Person County Sheriff’s Office Executes Search Warrants at Seven V**e and Smoke Shops in THC Investigation
PERSON COUNTY, N.C. — October 29, 2026 — The Person County Sheriff’s Office executed search warrants at seven v**e and smoke shops throughout Person County on October 29, 2026, as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged sale of THC products that exceed applicable legal limits under North Carolina law.
The investigation began on September 1, 2026, following reports that local v**e and smoke shops were selling THC products that may not comply with North Carolina law.
As part of the investigation, investigators with the Person County Sheriff’s Office conducted controlled purchases at all but one of the identified businesses.
The purchased products were submitted to an approved laboratory for testing. Laboratory results confirmed that products obtained during the investigation raised concerns regarding compliance with applicable North Carolina laws governing THC and cannabinoid products.
Based on the information obtained during the investigation, search warrants were executed at the following locations:
1. Discount To***co — 306 NC Highway 57, Roxboro, NC
2. M&A1 — 1251 N. Main Street, Roxboro, NC
3. Cosmic V**e — 817 N. Madison Boulevard, Roxboro, NC
4. Haze 7 V***r and Wireless — 723 Durham Road, Roxboro, NC
5. Savory Smoke Shop — 9770 Durham Road, Timberlake, NC
6. Madison Smoke and V**e — 126 S. Madison Boulevard, Roxboro, NC
7. Smoky To***co and V**e — 3004 Durham Road, Roxboro, NC
The investigation is focused on identifying and addressing the sale and distribution of THC products that may violate applicable state laws. Investigators are examining products offered for retail sale to determine whether their composition and THC content comply with the legal requirements in effect at the time of the alleged offenses.
Statement from Sheriff C.J. Wilborn
“The safety and well-being of the citizens of Person County remain a priority for this Sheriff’s Office. Businesses that sell v**e, to***co, and cannabinoid products are responsible for ensuring that the products they offer comply with North Carolina law.
“One of our greatest concerns is that both children and adults may purchase these products without truly knowing what they are consuming. Products may be attractively packaged, marketed in ways that appeal to younger individuals, or labeled in a manner that does not accurately reflect their contents or potency. When products are unregulated or improperly represented, consumers may have no reliable way of knowing exactly what they are putting into their bodies or what risks those products may pose to their health and safety.
“Parents deserve to know that products being sold in their communities are subject to the law, and consumers deserve to have confidence that what they purchase is accurately represented. We will not ignore reports of businesses potentially selling illegal products. Our investigators will continue to follow the evidence, work with appropriate laboratory and law enforcement partners, and take the necessary steps to address violations when they are identified.
“Our goal is to protect our community, especially our children, and to ensure that businesses operating in Person County understand that compliance with North Carolina law is expected.”
