Pittsford, VT

Scarlett Plante, NREMT-P, is a dedicated Paramedic with Regional Ambulance Service, Inc. whose path to emergency medical services grew naturally from her passion for the outdoors and her desire to help others.

Scarlett began her EMS journey in 2020 as an Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) National Ski Patrol Technician, combining her love of outdoor adventure with the opportunity to care for people in need. Determined to expand her clinical knowledge and capabilities, she earned her EMT certification in 2021. Scarlett joined Regional Ambulance Service in 2023 and continued advancing her education, achieving a significant professional milestone in 2025 when she became a Nationally Registered Paramedic.

Whether responding to an emergency on the mountain, caring for a patient in the field, or supporting a colleague, Scarlett approaches each situation with enthusiasm, reliability, and a commitment to doing her best for others.

Her progression from Outdoor Emergency Care provider to EMT and ultimately Paramedic reflects a genuine desire to continually learn, grow, and become a more capable healthcare professional. Washington, DC — October 15, 2026 — The American Ambulance Association (AAA) is proud to announce the 2026 Stars of Life honorees, recognizing outstanding emergency medical services (EMS) professionals whose dedication, compassion, and commitment to serving others make a lasting impact on their communities. These honorees include paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers, and other EMS professionals who represent the very best of the profession.

The 2026 Stars of Life celebration will take place November 16–18, 2026, in Washington, DC, bringing together EMS professionals from across the country for three days of recognition and celebration. Throughout the event, honorees will be celebrated for their outstanding service, connect with fellow EMS professionals, and meet with members of Congress to share their stories and highlight the vital role of EMS in communities nationwide.

“We are incredibly proud to recognize our largest Stars of Life class to date, with 167 outstanding EMS professionals representing 40 states,” said AAA President Jamie Pafford-Gresham.

This year’s record-breaking class reflects the dedication and impact of EMS professionals across the country. Each honoree brings a unique story of service, highlighting the many ways they make a meaningful difference in the lives of those they serve.

“Every day, these individuals dedicate themselves to serving others, making a lasting impact through both the extraordinary moments and the everyday acts of care that often go unseen. It is an honor to recognize their contributions and share their stories on a national stage.”

In addition to the Stars, Congressman Mike Carey will be recognized as the 2026 AAA Legislator of the Year. The AAA will also honor 32 members of Congress with Legislative Recognition Awards for their ongoing support of mobile healthcare and the EMS Profession.

Rest in peace Laura.

The dispatching world lost a legend on April 21, 2026, when we lost Laura Moulton.

Laura spent more than 35 years of her life dispatching for the Vermont State Police and beyond, serving dozens of fire departments, rescue squads, game wardens, constables, DMV enforcement, liquor control, and more.
If you heard Laura’s voice on the radio, you knew the call you were responding to was going to be okay. Laura took pride in making sure all of her responders went home at the end of their shift. This often meant thinking outside the box, even if it didn’t make people happy.

If you ever worked with Laura, you realized it wasn’t always fun. She demanded perfection when it came to officer safety. This was a lesson that took time for dispatchers working with her to learn Once enlightenment was achieved, you became more than just a coworker to her, she became like family member, a mom, attended weddings and baby showers, and being there for her coworkers on their absolute worst days. She was instrumental in breaking the mental health stigma in the dispatch world and was a founding member of the peer support team in Vermont.

Laura loved the Patriots and Tom Brady to almost obnoxious levels. Like Brady, Laura was hands down the best at her craft. She worked in the “dark ages” of dispatch, when cards were punched and telephones were rotary, before E911. She worked in a single barracks, regional barracks, and eventually dispatched for half the state. Her knowledge of emergency services and resources is irreplaceable. Technology, responsibilities, and roles changed rapidly during those years; however, her commitment to taking care of her coworkers and responders never did. The State of Vermont has lost perhaps its foremost expert in dispatchers.

Laura’s legacy will live on. She trained dozens of dispatchers to her exceptional standard. If you listen carefully to dispatchers around Vermont and slightly across its borders, you can still hear her in their voices, especially on the big calls.
