A dozen years ago I woke up to a text from David & the Devil | Swampy blues & pottery with a bandage around his finger. I forget what the message said because I saw a little ear from the mule logo peeking out from behind the bandage and I knew he had tattooed the headstock logo ON HIS HAND. The significance of this almost induced panic and I wanted to say “are you sure???” But it was obvious he already was indeed.

Nine more, I believe because honestly it’s been hard to keep track, humans have since made a Mule a permanent part of their existence.

For this we salute you, you crazy reso-fiends. Thanks for being part of the story.

The 2026 Christmas ornaments are shipping with the guitars we finish until the end of the year. These are made and painted every year by one of my favorite humans, the mighty Auntie Chris. She’s been a really important part of my life and helping get here. There’s 25 extras for sale on the website right now. You must go purchase them immediately or they will be gone.

Also she has a website fallnsnow.com with lots of other awesome art. So don’t be a Scrooge and go buy everything she has.

The mighty Parr Mule. In honor of the American treasure Charlie Parr. On the steps down the reso rabbit hole the Parr is the first - part standard acoustic guitar and part junkyard dog. Set up like the acoustic you’ve got in your living room but has a sound all its own.

I went to Roberto-Venn School when I was 19.
The instructors checked out work after every step, and one day I was outside having trouble with a process and couldn’t figure it out so I asked the director of training check it anyways hoping it was good enough.

He was smoking a cigarette, leaned down to check it, stood up, threw his cigarette In the dirt and walked off. It was not good enough and trying to get away with it was not a strategy.

Almost exactly 23 years later I handed him a resonator I made for him and he said something that made 19 year old me cry like a baby, “That’s a beautiful thing.”

I love going back and talking to the students and seeing my friends. This work is technical work but heart driven and I am refueled.

Music is the most important thing in the world.
It connects people across cultures and across time itself.

We make the tools and then give it to someone so the real work can be done.
-Ken Parker
