🚨🔥 TIME TO CHANGE YOUR CLOCKS & CHECK YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS! 🔥🚨

⏰ When you change your clocks, take a few minutes to check your smoke detectors!

Iberville Parish Fire District #1 – East Iberville Fire Department reminds everyone that working smoke detectors save lives and provide an early warning when seconds count during a fire.

🏠 SMOKE DETECTOR SAFETY TIPS:

✅ TEST YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS:
Press the test button on every smoke detector in your home to make sure it is working properly. Test monthly!

🔋 CHECK YOUR BATTERIES:
When changing your clocks, check your smoke detector batteries. Replace removable batteries as recommended by the manufacturer. Never remove or disconnect batteries without replacing them.

📅 10-YEAR REPLACEMENT RULE:
Smoke detectors do NOT last forever! All smoke detectors should be replaced 10 years after their manufacture date, even if they still sound when tested. Check the date on the back of each detector.

🚨 CHECK DETECTOR LOCATIONS:
Make sure you have smoke detectors inside every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of your home.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 PRACTICE YOUR ESCAPE PLAN:
Make sure everyone in your household knows what to do when a smoke detector sounds. Have two ways out of every room and a designated meeting place outside.

⏰ REMINDER:
Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 2:00 AM. Remember to set your clocks BACK one hour!

❤️ A FEW MINUTES OF PREVENTION COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE OR THE LIFE OF SOMEONE YOU LOVE!

TOMORROW - SCHEDULED PIPELINE MAINTENANCE IN ST. GABRIEL 🚧

Residents in and around the St. Gabriel area may hear loud noises tomorrow, Thursday, October 29, as Linde conducts scheduled maintenance on its pipeline between Geismar and St. Gabriel. As part of this maintenance, crews will be conducting a controlled pipeline venting operation to replace a valve. This process may produce loud noises that can be heard in surrounding areas.

📅 Thursday, October 29, 2026
⏰ 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM

This is a scheduled maintenance operation. No flaring activity is planned and no traffic impacts are expected along Highway 30. Linde has also advised that a second, shorter venting period may be necessary on Friday, October 30.

We are sharing this information in advance to keep residents informed and help avoid unnecessary concern.

Thursday, October 23rd, we had the pleasure of visiting the MSA East Knights in St. Gabriel for a fire prevention presentation! We had a fantastic time teaching the students about essential fire safety practices, including:

* **Lithium Battery Safety:** Understanding how to charge and store devices safely.
* **Stop, Drop, and Roll:** Learning the correct technique if clothes ever catch fire.
* **Smoke Detector Safety:** Why these devices are critical for early warning.
* **Escape Planning:** Identifying a safe meeting place outside the home.

The highlight of the day was getting to show the students our fire trucks and the equipment we use to keep our community safe. Thank you to the students and staff for such a warm welcome—it was a pleasure meeting you all!
