What an incredible morning at Admiral Kidd for the latest San Diego Military Advisory Council (SDMAC) Speaker Series featuring Major General James Wellons, Commanding General of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. MajGen Wellons shared powerful insights on leadership, innovation, and the future of Marine Corps aviation — a truly inspiring conversation that highlighted the strength and strategic vision of our Armed Forces.

Huge thank you to SDMAC’s Coffee Sponsor, the Armed Services YMCA San Diego, for fueling the networking and sharing the incredible work your organization is doing to support military families and their communities. ☕👏

The SDMAC FOUNDATION did a wonderful job introducing transitioning servicemembers at the breakfast. Grateful for their continued efforts in supporting transitioning service members, creating meaningful opportunities for connection and growth beyond the uniform.

SDMAC Members, Partners and Supporters,

As some of you may have heard, after more than six years of dedicated service, Mark Balmert, our esteemed President and CEO, has retired from his post, effective March 14, 2024.

Mark has been an invaluable leader for our organization, contributing tirelessly to the advancement of our mission and the strength of the military within the San Diego community. Under his guidance, SDMAC has become a cornerstone of support for military personnel and their families and a leading voice for our military, servicemembers, and veterans in the San Diego region and across the state. Mark's vision, passion, and commitment have been instrumental in shaping SDMAC into the influential force it is today.

While Mark's retirement marks the end of an era, it also signifies the beginning of a new chapter for the San Diego Military Advisory Council. SDMAC’s Board of Directors has begun an executive search process to identify candidates to fill the position of President and CEO.

The position opening will soon be posted, including details on the submission of resumes.

In the meantime, the Board has appointed Board member and past-Chair Paul Pearigen to serve as Interim President and CEO until the selection and hiring of the next leader is complete.

Please join me in expressing our heartfelt gratitude to Mark for his outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication throughout the years. We are immensely grateful for his contributions and wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to SDMAC.

Thanks and stay well,

Victor Ramsauer
SDMAC Board Chair, 2024
