California American Water has received an $864,500 U.S. EPA award to strengthen critical water infrastructure in Monterey County’s high-risk wildfire zones. The funding will support fire-hardening improvements, vegetation removal, fire-resistant roofing and emergency backup power at the Carmel Valley Clearwell Tank and San Carlos Booster Pump Station—helping protect reliable water service and firefighting capacity while reducing costs for local customers.

The American Water Charitable Foundation announced today that it awarded a $260,000 Corporate Strategic grant to the National Urban League. Funding will support the Affiliate Movement, which supports workforce development programs that expand skills, education, and opportunity in communities served by American Water.

This includes the Urban League here in Sacramento, California.
