This Thankful Tuesday, we’re celebrating Hillcrest, one of the most vibrant and welcoming communities in Senate District 39. Home to the San Diego LGBTQ+ Community Center, a pillar of support, advocacy, and connection for countless residents, Hillcrest has long been at the heart of the region’s LGBTQ+ community. Alongside its incredible local businesses, dining, arts, and culture, Hillcrest helps make San Diego stronger and more inclusive. 💙

On Harvey Milk Day, we are reminded that equality has never been guaranteed. Every step forward for LGBTQ+ people came because courageous leaders chose to stand up, speak out, and fight for our humanity. 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️
That is why today, San Diego Democrats for Equality is proud to endorse Xavier Becerra for Governor of California.
Long before it was politically safe, Xavier Becerra stood with LGBTQ+ people in the fight for dignity, equality, and freedom. He has spent his career defending our right to exist openly, love who we love, and live without fear.
When extremists attack LGBTQ+ youth, Xavier fights back.
When discrimination threatens our families, Xavier fights back.
When our rights are challenged in courts and legislatures across this country, Xavier fights back.
For our community, this is personal.
This is about the young person afraid to come out.
The trans kid wondering if they are safe.
The LGBTQ+ families being targeted by hate and fear.
The generations before us who fought battles simply to be seen, heard, and treated equally.
At a moment when LGBTQ+ people are once again under attack across this country, California must continue to be a place of hope, protection, and progress.
We do not need leaders who will stay silent while our community is targeted.
We need leaders who will stand up, fight back, and never stop defending equality for every Californian.
Xavier Becerra has done that his entire career.
And we know he always will.

Today, we join millions across the country in mourning the passing of Barney Frank.
Congressman Frank was a trailblazer, a fierce advocate for equality, and one of the most consequential voices for LGBTQ+ rights in American history. As one of the first openly gay members of Congress, he helped change not only laws, but hearts and minds across this country through courage, authenticity, and an unwavering commitment to justice.
His legacy lives on in every LGBTQ+ person who feels safer, more visible, and more empowered to live openly because of the path he helped forge.
San Diego Democrats for Equality sends our deepest condolences to his loved ones, friends, colleagues, and all those inspired by his extraordinary life of public service.
May we honor his memory not only with words, but by continuing the fight for equality, dignity, and justice for all.

The San Diego Democrats for Equality are heartbroken and horrified by today’s deadly attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and every member of the Muslim community shaken by this act of violence.
No one should ever fear for their life while gathering in prayer, community, or peace. If this attack is confirmed to be motivated by hate, it is a painful reminder that hateful rhetoric and extremism have real and deadly consequences.
San Diego must stand united against Islamophobia, hate, and political violence in all its forms. We are grateful to the first responders and law enforcement officers who rushed into danger to protect lives and prevent even greater tragedy.
To our Muslim neighbors: we stand with you today and always. You are not alone.

San Diego Democrats for Equality is proud to stand with Carolina Chavez.
The choice is absolutely clear. We must re-elect Carolina Chavez.
Carolina has proven what leadership looks like. She shows up, she listens, and she delivers for her community. She leads with integrity and with a deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and respect for every person she represents.
At a time when our values are being challenged, we need leaders who will stand firm and do the work. Carolina has done exactly that.
She has been a strong partner in advancing equality and ensuring that everyone in our community is seen, heard, and protected.
This is about the future of Chula Vista. This is about continuing the progress we have made and not taking a step backward.
We are proud to support her and proud to stand with her.
Re-elect Carolina Chavez.
The momentum is building — and I’m deeply grateful for the support.💙
Over the past four years, I’ve worked every day to be a strong voice for District 1 at City Hall. Together, we’ve delivered real results for Chula Vista — from supporting local businesses and strengthening our economy to helping keep our city the safest in San Diego County.
In recent months, I’ve had the chance to connect with so many neighbors, small business owners, and families about what matters most to them — and those conversations continue to shape the work ahead.
I’m ready to keep fighting for stronger neighborhoods, improved infrastructure, safer communities, and a Chula Vista where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Great energy last night with Jane Kim, our endorsed candidate for California Insurance Commissioner.
We had a strong crowd, real conversations, and a shared focus on what it takes to protect working people and make sure our systems actually deliver for them. Jane brought a clear vision and the kind of leadership that’s grounded in experience and results.
