Last evening was a little different at the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter. 🥹❤️

We had some lovely visitors come read bedtime stories to our shelter pets. Some listened, some got sleepy, and some were probably just wondering where the treats were. 😂🐾

Such a sweet way to share a little kindness and give these animals some extra love while they wait for their forever homes.

Missed it? Come join us next time! 📚💕

🎃🎃🎃

Visit us today! You can “Adopt A Boo” for a reduced adoption fee, and all black cat adoption fees are waived thanks to our Bogey Fund. The Bogey Fund encourages adopters to consider mostly-black cats, who are often passed by due to superstition or just a tendency for people to notice more “flashy” looking felines.

The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is open to the public from 11am to 6pm every day (except county holidays) and located at 1001 Rodriguez Street at the corner of 7th Avenue in Santa Cruz, CA. Our telephone number is 831-454-7200. Last meet and greet ends at 4:30 pm. Visit our website at scanimalshelter.org or click on link in Bio.

Did you know we include a training voucher called Pawsitivity Bucks in every dog adoption package? This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Thanks to our partner the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation for making this possible!

Thank you for your support! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is an open door shelter. We will not turn away any Santa Cruz County animal in need.
