The New Mexico Indian Affairs Department recognizes Red Ribbon Week, a national observance dedicated to promoting drug-free lifestyles, raising awareness about substance misuse, and encouraging healthy choices for individuals, families, and communities.

For Native American communities, prevention is rooted in cultural identity, family connections, traditional teachings, and the strength of community. By honoring these values and supporting our youth, we can help build a future grounded in wellness, resilience, and opportunity.

Red Ribbon Week is also an opportunity to recognize the importance of education, open conversations, and access to culturally responsive prevention and recovery resources.

Together, we can empower future generations, strengthen our communities, and promote healthier futures for all.

📣 Is your Nation, Pueblo, Tribe, or community hosting a Red Ribbon Week event or prevention awareness activity? We encourage you to share the details in the comments below so others can learn about opportunities to participate and support community wellness.
