The Tenants Union of Washington State fights for housing justice for all Washington tenants through education, organizing, leadership development and advocacy.

Our work creates concrete improvements in tenants’ living conditions and challenges and transforms unjust housing policies and practices. We achieve organizing victories through outreach, training, leadership development, strategic analysis, creative direct action and legislative advocacy. Washington State tenants have won important legal protections, but these rights don't go far enough. 🏠 SPOKANE COUNTY WILDFIRE HOUSING ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE

Spokane County and the Spokane Housing Authority have launched a $500,000 Wildfire Housing Assistance Fund to help eligible households displaced by wildfires since June 14, 2026.

Eligible households may qualify for help with rent, temporary housing, utilities, deposits, and other expenses that support housing stability.

💛 THANK YOU, WATERS MEET, FOR MAKING SPACE FOR HEALING.

Two members of the TU team recently had the opportunity to attend The Healing Retreat at Sleeping Lady Resort in Leavenworth, Washington, hosted by Waters Meet Foundation. We’re so grateful for this experience and for the chance to rest, reconnect, and spend time with others doing important work in their communities.

The retreat grounds offered beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, including the distinctive Sleeping Lady silhouette that inspired the resort’s name. It was a fitting setting for a few days of reflection, connection, and renewal.

As one of our staff reflected:

“This retreat reminded me that I matter in this work, too. That my well-being matters. Rest is not giving up, and healing is not selfish. Taking care of ourselves is part of how we sustain the work we believe in.”

We’re grateful to Waters Meet for recognizing that the people working to support and strengthen our communities need care and connection, too. And thank you to everyone who made this retreat such a meaningful experience, including the wonderful fellow advocates and community leaders we had the chance to meet.

We returned feeling more grounded, connected, and renewed. 💛

💛 GRACIAS A WATERS MEET POR CREAR UN ESPACIO PARA SANAR.

Dos integrantes del equipo del TU tuvieron recientemente la oportunidad de participar en el Retiro de Sanación en Sleeping Lady Resort, en Leavenworth, Washington. Estamos muy agradecidxs por esta experiencia y por la oportunidad de descansar, reconectarnos y compartir tiempo con otras personas que realizan un trabajo importante en sus comunidades.

Desde los terrenos del resort se pueden disfrutar hermosas vistas de las montañas circundantes, incluida la distintiva silueta de la Sleeping Lady, que inspiró el nombre del resort. Fue un entorno ideal para unos días de reflexión, conexión y renovación. 💛

Como reflexionó una persona del equipo del TU:

“Este retiro me recordó que yo también soy importante en este trabajo. Que mi bienestar importa. Descansar no significa rendirse, y sanar no es egoísta. Cuidarnos es parte de cómo podemos sostener el trabajo en el que creemos”.

Agradecemos a Waters Meet por reconocer que quienes trabajan para apoyar y fortalecer nuestras comunidades también necesitan cuidado y conexión. Gracias también a todas las personas que hicieron de este retiro una experiencia tan significativa, incluidxs lxs increíbles defensorxs y líderes comunitarixs que tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer.

Regresamos con una mayor sensación de equilibrio, conexión y renovación. 💛
