Last week, we had the privilege of presenting at SCPS Young Leaders for Justice and Government Day! Sheriff Moore, Captain Tipton, Sergeant Williams, Deputy Clemmons, and Deputy McCellen spoke with students about the Shelby County Sheriff's Office's constitutional duties and law enforcement responsibilities.

We appreciate the opportunity to connect with students and help educate the next generation about public service and local government!

Today demonstrated the importance of teamwork and cooperation between our law enforcement agencies.

Shelbyville Police officers and a Shelby County Deputy responded to Ashland Avenue for a nonresponsive one-year-old child. Officers rendered aid before EMS arrived and assisted with escorting the ambulance to Kosair Children’s Hospital.

Shortly afterward, officers and deputies responded to Rose Street for a subject experiencing a mental health crisis. Despite reports of a fi***rm inside the residence and gasoline being poured on the structure, officers used communication and de-escalation techniques to peacefully resolve the situation. The subject will be transported to the University of Louisville for a mental health assessment.

These incidents highlight the dedication of our officers and deputies and the importance of working together to protect our community.

FRANKFORT ROAD & CROSS KEYS ROAD

Emergency crews are currently on the scene of a serious motor vehicle accident in the area of Frankfort Road and Cross Keys Road.

The roadway will be CLOSED while crews work the scene and the accident is investigated.

Motorists are asked to AVOID THE AREA and use an alternate route until further notice.

Please slow down, use caution, and give emergency personnel plenty of room to work.
