MASON COUNTY DEPUTIES ARREST 69-YEAR-OLD FOLLOWING ONLINE CHILD EXPLOITATION INVESTIGATION

In early October 2026, Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies were alerted by a civilian group identifying itself as Predator Poachers of Washington, which expressed concerns regarding a 69-year-old male communicating online with an individual believed to be a 13-year-old female.

Through diligent investigative efforts, the patrol deputy conducted a follow-up investigation that led to the development of probable cause to arrest the male for Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes.

On October 31, 2026, Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the suspect’s residence in the area of Northeast Trudeau Mountain Road to serve a search warrant and take the male into custody.

The male was taken into custody without further incident and subsequently booked into the Mason County Jail on one count of Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes.

This investigation remains ongoing as deputies continue to investigate potential additional offenses.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office takes allegations involving the exploitation and abuse of children seriously and remains committed to investigating these offenses and holding those responsible accountable.

🎃 Halloween Safety Tips for Mason County 👻
As ghosts, ghouls, and superheroes head out tonight, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office reminds families to stay alert and celebrate safely, especially on our rural roads and neighborhoods.

Here are a few important safety reminders for trick-or-treaters in Mason County:

🚶‍♂️ Be Road-Aware: We may not have many sidewalks or crosswalks, so stay to the side of the road, walk facing traffic, and be alert for vehicles.
🔦 Stay Visible: Carry a flashlight or wear glow sticks and reflective clothing so drivers can see you clearly in the dark.
🎭 Keep Costumes Safe: Make sure costumes don’t block vision or cause tripping.
🍬 Check Your Treats: Have an adult inspect all candy before eating. Skip anything unwrapped or suspicious.
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Stick Together: Young children should always be accompanied by an adult. Older kids should travel in groups and let someone know their route.

🚗 Drivers, please slow down and stay alert in neighborhoods.
Let’s all help keep this Halloween safe and fun for our community.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office joins our law enforcement family across Washington State in mourning the passing of Whitman County Sheriff's Office,Sheriff Brett Myers, who passed away on October 27, 2026, at the age of 56.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Sheriff Myers’ wife and daughters, the men and women of the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office, and all those whose lives he touched.

Although we serve different communities, we stand together as one law enforcement family, especially during times of loss. Sheriff Myers’ passing is a reminder of the lasting impact one dedicated public servant can have on a community and the profession.

🚗 Driving Community Support! 🚗

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Shelton Ford and everyone who participated in the 2026 Rain or Shine Car Show!

Proceeds from this year’s event were generously donated to our D.A.R.E. program, helping us continue our mission of educating, encouraging, and empowering the youth of Mason County.

Shelton Ford’s commitment to our community goes far beyond this event. Not only did they generously donate the Mustang used in our D.A.R.E. program, but they continue to step up and invest in the future of our community and the kids we serve.

We are incredibly grateful for community partners like Shelton Ford and for every participant who brought out their vehicle, supported the show, and helped make this event a success.

Thank you for helping us make a difference, one student at a time! 💙
