Good grief - parents, guardians, and anyone else using changing tables in public restrooms - if you don't already wipe down the surface with some sort of disinfectant and/or use a changing mat (that then also gets wiped down), then this story should inspire you to start doing so! Fentanyl is extremely dangerous - even residual amounts contacting the skin could be very harmful, even deadly. Stay Safe!

An officer gave Narcan to a man they just happened upon in the Casey’s restroom and got him breathing until medics arrived early this morning.

They later learned he put lines of fentanyl on the baby station and snorted them.

Two officers were on an unrelated trespassing call outside the station about 5:30 Thursday morning and once finished, an officer went to use the restroom. That’s when he discovered a man on the floor unresponsive.

One officer began CPR and the other administered his department issued Narcan. The man began breathing and at the hospital told an officer his last memory was snorting the fentanyl off the baby station then going to wash his hands.

The investigation is ongoing. The man is expected to recover.

SCAM ALERT: At least 3 Smith County citizens have reported that they have received similar text messages this week - the phishing attempt tries to convince you that you have some sort of unpaid tickets or fines and are in danger of legal action unless you act immediately. DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS, or follow any instructions in the bogus message! Delete it and block the sender. We commend the diligent citizens of our county for being cautious and inquiring about these messages. Please help spread the word to others.

At approximately 1015 pm, tonight(Feb 28th), the Smith Center State Wrestlers will be returning into town.
There will be 2 loud pops uptown, please do not call 911.

This sign is posted at the south entrance of the circle drive at the SC Highschool.

We are beginning to get a lot of complaints about parents not following this...
Busses need the extra space to maneuver in and out.
Also, there are complaints about people driving around busses while they are loading and unloading.
If their stop sign is out, that is very large fine! That fine also goes up after your first offense.

Please be courteous to our busses and to the kids on them!
