Your last chance to submit FY 2028 budget requests is Nov. 5. Take advantage of this opportunity to tell ISBE what investments would make a difference for students next fiscal year. Your insights will inform the Board’s advocacy for equitable funding for all students in FY 2028 and provide the basis for ISBE’s budget recommendation to Governor JB Pritzker and the General Assembly in January 2027. The 2026 Illinois Report Card is now available!

This annual report shows how the state, and each school and district, are progressing on a wide range of educational goals. The Report Card offers a complete picture of student and school performance in order to inform and empower families and communities as they support their local schools.

"The 2026 Illinois Report Card shows that Illinois students are making meaningful progress across the measures that matter most," said State Superintendent of Education Dr. Tony Sanders. "We're seeing more students meeting grade-level expectations, graduating from high school on time, attending school consistently, and taking advantage of opportunities that prepare them for college and careers. These results reflect the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities across Illinois, as well as our continued commitment to investing in public education and evidence-based practices that help students succeed."
