The Director of DCFS was found in contempt of court yesterday for the department’s ongoing mishandling of a records request by Capitol News Illinois. This points to a troubling trend of mismanagement at the department that is in charge of protecting our state's most vulnerable children. When will Governor Pritzker and Director Mueller finally take accountability and address these glaring failures?

There's no reason Illinois should rank near the bottom for jobs. We have first-rate infrastructure, an amazing workforce, and all the resources to be a hub for growth. So, what's holding us back? Poor public policy. Democrats' high taxes, burdensome regulations, and unfriendly business policies push job creators away, leaving Illinois residents with fewer opportunities.

This week, the federal government offered Constellation Energy a conditional loan commitment to finance nuclear power uprate projects and modernization at six plants here in Illinois. Among those facilities is the Byron plant in State Representative Bradley Fritts' district. Here's what the Rep. had to say:

“Today, we had an excellent discussion with Secretary Chris Wright about the new federal multi-billion-dollar expansion loan for nuclear energy facilities across the country, including our plant in Byron. I want to thank Secretary Wright and the federal administration for their attention to this incredibly important issue, especially when Governor J.B. Pritzker continues to make it more challenging to increase our baseload power.

“This expansion will increase clean and safe energy generation and lower utility bills for families across our region. I look forward to seeing this expansion grow our local communities and economies.”
