UPDATE: Beach Sweep Cancelled 🌊⚠️

Please note that the Borough of Stone Harbor has cancelled Saturday’s Beach Sweep event as a precautionary measure.

Access to the dunes—the primary focus of our cleanup—remains unsafe following last month’s nor’easter. While we were eager to get out there together, prioritizing the safety of our volunteers and community comes first.

Thank you for your understanding and for your continued support in keeping our beaches beautiful and safe! We look forward to seeing you at our next event.

Coastal Flood Advisory in Effect today (10/20/26) from 3-9pm.

Message from the Cape May County Office of Emergency Management:
1. Coastal Flooding: Due to the prolonged period of onshore flow, multiple rounds of coastal flooding is expected. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for portions of NJ and DE for spotty to widespread minor tidal flooding with Tuesday evening's high tide cycle. Multiple rounds of coastal flooding is expected through at least Wednesday evening with the Wednesday evening high tide cycle being the one of most concern with widespread minor to low-end moderate coastal flooding possible, particularly in the back bays. Additional coastal flooding beyond Wednesday evening is possible as high tides remain elevated. Low lying areas near tidal waterways may become inundated, potentially causing partial or full road closures.

2. Gusty Winds: Northeasterly winds increase through Wednesday. The gusty winds will begin lessening Wednesday night into Thursday. Wind gusts in the 35-40 mph range are probable at the coast during this period.

3. Marine Conditions: A Gale Warning is in effect for most of the NJ ocean zones and all of the DE ocean zones through late Wednesday. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for Delaware Bay through midday Wednesday. For the coastal waters from Sandy Hook to Manasquan Inlet, a Small Craft Advisory in in effect through late Wednesday. Northeasterly wind gusts of 35-45 knots will be possible in the Gale Warning, along with seas building to 8-12 feet. In the Small Craft Advisory areas, northeasterly wind gusts of 25-30 knots are possible with seas building to 5-10 feet.

Coastal Flooding and Gusty Winds expected this week (October 19, 2026)

A message from the Cape May County Office of Emergency Management:

A developing nor'easter off the North Carolina coast will meander off the Mid-Atlantic coast through at least the middle of this week. This will result in a prolonged period of onshore flow leading to coastal flooding concerns. For the marine zones and coastal areas, gusty winds will develop. Here are the key messages (also see the attached graphics):

1. Coastal Flooding: Due to the prolonged period of onshore flow, multiple rounds of coastal flooding is expected. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for portions of NJ and DE for widespread minor tidal flooding with Tuesday evening's high tide cycle. Multiple rounds of coastal flooding is expected through at least Wednesday evening with the Wednesday evening high tide cycle being the one of most concern with widespread minor to low-end moderate coastal flooding. Additional coastal flooding beyond Wednesday evening is possible as high tides remain elevated. Low lying areas near tidal waterways may become inundated, potentially causing partial or full road closures.

2. Gusty Winds: Northeasterly winds increase through tonight. The gusty winds will continue through Wednesday before lessening Wednesday night into Thursday. Wind gusts in the 30-35 mph range are probable near the coast during this period.

3. Marine Conditions: A Gale Warning is now in effect for most of the NJ ocean zones and all of the DE ocean zones from Monday through Tuesday night. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for Delaware Bay through Tuesday night. For the coastal waters from Sandy Hook to Manasquan Inlet, a Small Craft Advisory remains in effect through tonight with a Gale Watch for Tuesday into Tuesday night. Northeasterly wind gusts of 35-45 knots will be possible in the Gale Warning, along with seas building to 10-15 feet. In the Small Craft Advisory areas, northeasterly wind gusts of 25-30 knots are possible with seas building to 5-10 feet.
