E-SPLOST VII is on DeKalb’s November 3 ballot. Here’s what it means.

It would continue the existing one-cent education sales tax. It would not add another penny or increase the current sales tax rate.

The money supports school construction, renovations, safety improvements, technology and buses for scholars in DeKalb County School District, City Schools of Decatur and Atlanta Public Schools. It cannot pay salaries or daily operating expenses.

Residents and visitors contribute when they make eligible taxable purchases in DeKalb. If approved, the renewal would begin July 1, 2027, and run for up to five years or until the collection limit is reached.

A YES vote also authorizes up to $500 million in DeKalb school bonds so eligible projects can begin sooner. Issuing those bonds would require further Board approval.

Early voting runs through October 30. Election Day is November 3. Look for E-SPLOST under “Special Election” on your ballot.

DeKalb, this is a milestone worth celebrating. Reaching an all time high graduation rate of 83.3% represents the hard work of our scholars, families, educators, staff, and school leaders across the district.

I am proud of this progress and grateful to everyone who continues to pour into our students each day. We know the work is not finished, but today we celebrate how far we have come and continue moving Forward Together for Results.
