Letter from Superintendent Blackburn

10/27/2026

The missing runaway juvenile from last night (separate juvenile incident), which was featured in this mornings news in the metro area has been located and is in custody at this time.

We want to thank everyone for the tips and updates in locating this troubled teen.

Tonight officers responded to a local convenience store for a report of a subject that entered the store wearing a ski mask who then stole items and fled from the attendant.

Officers searched the area while waiting on the manager to arrive and produce video of the incident. After viewing the video and speaking to witnesses, the juvenile was identified and located a short time later. After a brief attempt to lie to officers, the juvenile confessed to the crimes and an intake with JSU was done along with a DHS referral report. We as a department have come a very long way with the juvenile offenders in this town and will stand firm that offenses like this will have a zero tolerance. Our businesses and citizens deserve not to be victims just for someone to look cool or take whatever they want without paying for it.

To the parents who allow the juveniles to run wild and perform these heinous acts, you are responsible for these young offenders both financially and legally. You too can be charged in district court. Please help us prevent these young adults from being a DOC statistic.

The Stratford Police Department was met by officers from other agencies in reference to organized criminal activity in our area and within their jurisdictions. Now the organizational skills of these criminals is about as effective as one trying to herd ducks but we digress.

Some of these suspects are already involved in pending charges of theft and fraud-type and theft crimes in several jurisdictions as well. Coordination and cooperation with these agencies and appropriate courts is part of our zero tolerance for these folks preying on our people in our community.

If you’re reading this and feeling like this might be about you, please know that the 74872 might not be the zip code of choice for your lifestyle and a more distant one might be a better fit. Speaking of fit, those new pink jump suits at the jail look amazing in mug shots and no filters are needed with them.

Cell and Internet outage update:

The fiber line that separated due to dry ground shifting and buckling near the 5 mile curve was just repaired. Techs say service should restore shortly. It might take a bit for the towers to reboot once data is restored. You might speed the process up by trying to rebooting your devices. 8:31 pm 9/18/26
