Members of Sam’s Gloucester County Police Academy - Class 62, along with GCPA instructors and members of the current Class 69, were honored to take part in the Second Annual Patrolman Samuel C. Irvin Legacy 5K Run/Walk over the weekend.

Sam was a member of Gloucester County Police Academy Class 62 and was serving as a patrolman with Mansfield Township Police Department at the time of his passing in 2023.

It was an honor to come together to remember Sam, celebrate his legacy, and support the important causes this event benefits. His commitment to family, service, leadership, and helping others continues to inspire those who knew him.

25 Years Later, We Remember.

Today, we remember the men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and we honor the first responders who ran toward danger, many to never return home.

We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness shown that day.

We thank you. We honor you. We remember you.

Twenty-five years later, and always, we will never forget. 🇺🇸

Our 2026 Youth Police Academy has officially come to a close!

Over the past three days, our recruits had the opportunity to experience a glimpse into the life of a police officer. Their days were packed with physical training, drill and marching, classroom instruction, hands-on activities, and, of course, the legendary Botto's lunches that kept everyone fueled throughout the week!

We want to thank each and every recruit for their enthusiasm, hard work, and positive attitude. Most importantly, we want to thank their parents for allowing us to spend these three days with their children. It is a privilege to be a small part of their lives, and we hope they leave with lasting memories, new friendships, and a greater appreciation for law enforcement and public service.

A special thank you goes out to our outstanding instructors who dedicated their time and energy to making this program a success:

Class Coordinator – Ptl. Lindsay Davis
Sgt. Joseph Rieger
Cpl. Steve Spithaler
Ptl. Matt Motto
Inv. Scott Thomas
Ptl. Ed Donahue
Ptl. Brett Dolgos
Ptl. Mike Kemp
Inv. Andre Ouellette
Det. Curtis Rucker

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the many partnering agencies that took time out of their busy schedules to participate in this year's academy. Your support and willingness to share your expertise helped make this an unforgettable experience for our recruits.

Thank you again to everyone who made this year's Youth Police Academy such a tremendous success. We are already looking forward to welcoming a new class next year!

Please enjoy this photo album highlighting all three days of the 2026 Youth Police Academy!

🚲 ATTENTION RESIDENTS: NEW JERSEY E-BIKE LAW UPDATE 🚲

If you own or ride an electric bicycle (e-bike), there are important changes to New Jersey law that you should know.

New Jersey's new e-bike law requires:

âś… Riders must be at least 15 years old.
Riders ages 15-16 must obtain an e-bike license if they do not have a driver's license.
Riders 17 and older with a valid driver's license do not need a separate e-bike license.
âś… All e-bikes must be registered with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC).
âś… Helmet use is required for all e-bike riders, regardless of age.
âś… Insurance is required only for motorized bicycles. Low-speed electric bicycles do not require insurance.
🚦 E-bike riders are also expected to obey the same traffic laws as other vehicles, including:
• Stop at stop signs and red lights.
• Ride in the same direction as traffic.
• Yield to pedestrians.
• Avoid distracted riding and never carry more passengers than the bike is designed for.

These new requirements are intended to improve safety for riders, pedestrians, and motorists while helping ensure everyone shares the road responsibly.

For complete information, including licensing, registration, and determining how your e-bike is classified, visit the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission's e-bike information page.
