π‘ Why You'll Find LeadSafeCNY Coalition at Jazz in the City
For the third consecutive year, LeadSafeCNY Coalition is proud to participate in Jazz in the City's Healthcare Village.
Why?
Because we know that prevention starts with awareness, and awareness starts with conversation.
Every summer, Jazz in the City brings families, neighbors, community organizations, healthcare providers, and local leaders together in one place. It creates opportunities for people to connect with resources they may not otherwise encounter.
At our table, families can learn about:
π‘ Healthy Homes
π Lead Exposure Prevention
π Community Resources
π€ Navigation Support
π Educational Materials & Giveaways
Community health works best when we meet people where they are.
And that's exactly what Jazz in the City does.
We hope you'll stop by and visit us this Thursday!

πΌ Did You Know?
When most people think about lead exposure, they think about old paint, aging homes, or drinking water.
But lead exposure can come from a variety of sources, including some products children use or consume every day.
Recent discussions across the country about testing baby food for lead and other toxic metals highlight an important reminder:
π‘ Lead prevention is not just about housing.
π§ It's not just about water.
π It's about understanding all the ways children may be exposed.
Because when it comes to lead exposure, there is no known safe level for children.
At LeadSafeCNY Coalition, we believe education is one of the most powerful tools for prevention. By helping families understand potential sources of exposure, we can work together to create healthier homes, safer environments, and brighter futures for our children.
π Every child deserves the opportunity to live, learn, play, and grow in a lead-safe environment.

Lawmakers lay out policies to ban lead in baby food, set stricter standards for lead exposure β’ Michigan Advance
As Michigan works to test children for exposure to lead, the House Health Policy Committee on Wednesday took a look at a trio of policies intended to further limit exposure and provide treatment, while updating the stateβs definition for elevated lead levels in blood.

π¦πββοΈ COMMUNITY. SAFETY. WELLNESS. πββοΈπ¦
This past weekend, LeadSafeCNY Coalition had the pleasure of participating in the Swim 1922 Water Safety Event hosted by our D9 community partners Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. Theta Omicron Sigma Chapter at the YMCA of Central New York.
Throughout the day, our team connected with families, shared lead safety information, distributed educational resources, and answered questions about creating healthier homes and safer environments for children. Connected with some affected families.
Events like these remind us that protecting our children takes a community effort. Whether it's water safety, healthy housing, environmental health, or access to resources, every conversation helps strengthen the foundation for healthier families and stronger neighborhoods.
We are grateful to the organizers, volunteers, community partners, and families who made this event a success. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to learn more about lead prevention and healthy homes.
Together, we continue building a future where every child has the opportunity to live, learn, play, and thrive in a safe environment.

Mental health starts with the environments we live in, learn in, and grow in. π
This Mental Health Awareness Month, weβre reminding our community that safe and healthy housing matters. Families impacted by lead exposure often carry invisible burdens stress, uncertainty, fear, and the emotional weight of navigating unsafe conditions while trying to protect their children.
At the LeadSafe CNY Coalition, we remain committed to prevention, education, advocacy, and supporting healthier futures for children and families across our community.
Because protecting children means caring for both their physical health and emotional well-being.
Every City. Every Child. Lead-Safe New York. π
