Taft Selected for the School Mental Health Leadership Institute! 🐯

We are proud to share that our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Cataldo, has been accepted into the 2026-2027 School Mental Health Leadership Institute. The Institute is hosted by Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth (MPY) in partnership with the Rennie Center for Education Research & Policy and the Massachusetts School Mental Health Consortium. This year's program drew a large number of strong applications, and Mrs. Cataldo's expertise and dedication to advancing school mental health stood out.

From November through April, Mrs. Cataldo will take part in a series of webinars and cohort meetings with school leaders from across the state. The program focuses on building strong, sustainable mental health supports in schools.

The need for mental health support continues to grow for students of every age, including our youngest learners. Mrs. Cataldo will bring new strategies and resources back to Taft and Uxbridge to help us support our students.

Congratulations, Mrs. Cataldo! We are proud to have you leading this work for our students and families.

Taft Selected for McGraw Hill’s Project Lighthouse! 🐯

We are proud to share that Taft Early Learning Center has been selected to take part in Project Lighthouse, a new partnership initiative from McGraw Hill. Of the 92 districts McGraw Hill supports in our region, Uxbridge was chosen for this opportunity.

Through Project Lighthouse, our teachers receive professional development based on the needs we identify, in real time, at no cost to the district. The partnership supports our Grade 1 pilot of Reveal Math this year with planning, resources, and ongoing coaching for teachers. Our EL teacher is also pushing in during first grade math, using Reveal’s EL support materials to give our multilingual learners additional support.

This opportunity is part of our district’s broader math curriculum review. Reveal will be considered by the Math Review Committee alongside other programs that may be a great fit for Uxbridge. Along the way, our team is learning a great deal about math curricula, professional development, and how to best support teachers through change.

Taft’s selection is due in large part to the hard work of our Taft & Whitin Math Instructional Coach, Sue Dhosi. Sue spent last spring and summer laying the groundwork, learning the platform inside and out, and making sure our teachers and support staff had what they needed from the start. Thank you, Sue!
