Meetings are held the second and fourth Wednesday's from 11:45am-1p.

Rosie Schroeder, from the South County Food Pantry, was our guest speaker this past. The pantry serves about 600 families each month which is an increase of 87% from 2025. They rely on donations, All Faith's food donations, and some grants. If you would like to donate to the pantry through the Flanzer Foundation, your donation will be doubled up to $500. The pantry accepts donations at their building on Warfield in Venice Monday-Friday from 9-12. More than 100 volunteers provide help at the pantry. The Sough County Food Pantry services Venice, Osprey, and Nokomis.

Attended the Haven South AKtion Club annual installation of officers and luncheon this week. The Kiwanis Club of Venice chartered the club 4 years ago. They continue to do great service to our community. They have participated in our Kiwanis family project, Every Kid Needs PJ's and a Book. Janine, new Board member, presented Jan Moore with 10 book sacks filled with a new book and pj's for some wee little guys/gals. Over the last 4 years they have donated to Meals on Wheels, The TWIG, Toys for Tots, and done food drives for peanut butter and jelly along with a number of other great projects. Attending the installation were Linda Skaathun, Florida District Governor, Debbie Bailey, Lt. Governor, Jan and Bob Moore,and Kiwanis advisors to the AKtion Club, Joanie Maison and Bev Miller.

Here's to another great year for this fantastic club as they continue to make a difference in their community.

Peter Norman, who is a volunteer with Literacy Volunteers of South Sarasota County was recently a speaker at our Club. He has been volunteering since 2017. The literacy volunteers work with adults 18 and older in the library system of Sarasota County. I have included a picture of a brochure if you have interest in becoming involved with this wonderful organization.

Thanks for the assist Miss Maria from the pre-school (seen below in gray shirt) The Kiwanis Club of Venice recently visited the Venice-Nokomis Pre-school for our service project "Venice Kiwanis READS!. Members Bob, Jan, Bev, Joanie, and Art read to the kiddos and did a craft. The children were then able to pick out a book to take home. Art and I have the 2 year old group. This has become an "after-school " program so the number of kids is smaller than it has been in the past. Great project. Thanks for letting us visit.

Taylor Ranch K-Kids completed their doggie bag service project prep this week. The bags will go to all classes to collect money to be donated to Dogs Inc.

The speaker on Oct. 14 is Peter Norman from the Literacy Volunteers of So. Sarasota County. Also attending the meeting are newly elected Florida District Gov. Linda and Skaathun and Debbie Bailey, Div. 18 Lt. Governor. Hope you can join us at 11:45.

Taylor Harty from the Jervey Library was a recent speaker. Taylor filled us in on the children /youth programs available this summer. Once again the Club was happy to present her with a check to help cover the summer program expenses.Taylor is pictured here with Past Kiwanis International President, and member of the Kiwanis Club Of Venice, Bob Moore.
