Multiple Suspects in Custody Following Burglary and Police Response

On October 29, 2026, at approximately 4:34 a.m., Addison Police officers observed two suspicious vehicles in a business district along Lake Street that were believed to be involved in commercial burglaries. Officers attempted to stop the vehicles, but both fled. With assistance from surrounding law enforcement agencies, a tire deflation device was successfully deployed, disabling one vehicle. Its occupants entered the second vehicle, which continued to flee and eluded Addison Police officers.

Villa Park Police officers were notified of the incident and subsequently located the fleeing vehicle near North Avenue and Route 83. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle did not stop. With assistance from surrounding jurisdictions, another tire deflation device was successfully deployed. The vehicle ultimately crashed near Interstate 290 and 25th Avenue, where seven individuals fled on foot.

A coordinated response involving multiple law enforcement agencies resulted in five individuals being taken into custody. Multiple weapons and proceeds believed to be connected to the burglary were recovered from the vehicle involved in the crash. No injuries to officers, suspects, or members of the public have been reported.

The Addison Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation with assistance from surrounding jurisdictions. At this time, there is no known ongoing threat to the public.

🚓🚒🚑 Today, October 28, is **National First Responders Day**.

The Villa Park Police Department would like to thank the men and women who answer the call every day — police officers, firefighters, paramedics and EMTs, 911 dispatchers, and first responders everywhere.

Day or night, weekends and holidays, in emergencies big and small, first responders run toward the moments most people run from — often at personal risk, and at the cost of time away from their own families — to protect and serve their communities.

A special thank you to our own VPPD officers and staff, to our fire, EMS, and dispatch partners here in Villa Park and across DuPage County, and to the families who stand behind them — your courage, dedication, and professionalism do not go unnoticed.

If you see a first responder today, please take a moment to say thank you. 💙

Thank you for answering the call.

As communities get ready for Halloween celebrations, Villa Park Police and the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) remind drivers about the dangers of impaired driving due to alcohol and drugs. Plan ahead by arranging a designated sober driver, taxi, or rideshare if you plan to drink or use impairing substances.

Remember, Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving and If You Feel Different, You Drive Different. If you see an impaired driver, contact local law enforcement.

National Teen Driver Safety Week is October 18–24, and the Villa Park Police Department is teaming up with NHTSA to help families talk about safe driving.

Traffic crashes are a leading cause of injury and death for teens ages 15–18. In 2024, 2,320 people were killed in crashes involving a teen driver. Parents, you have the most influence: set firm rules, model safe habits, and talk with your teen about seat belts, distracted driving, speeding, impaired driving, and passengers before handing over the keys.

During the Willowbrook vs. Addison Trail crosstown football game last night, Detective Perez, Willowbrook’s School Resource Officer, joined the Warrior Cheerleaders for a shoulder stand stunt. 🙌

Det. Perez also brought a sign with a friendly challenge for the Addison Trail SRO: it’s your turn to perform a stunt with your cheerleaders!

It was all in good fun to promote school spirit and District 88 unity. Great game, great crowd, and great sportsmanship from both schools!
