Chapter 694.002 of the Health and Safety Code provides for the disposition of the body of a deceased pauper through the pauper cremation program.

McLennan County Health Services oversees the County Indigent Health Care Program (CIHCP), Case Management, Jail Medical Claims and the Pauper Cremation program. Chapter 61 of the Health and Safety Code is intended to ensure that residents who do not qualify for other state or federal health care assistance programs receive health care services through CIHCP.

Our team had a great time attending McLennan County’s Annual Wellness & Lifestyle Expo yesterday!!

We connected with fellow county employees, ate great food, and learned about the many health and wellness resources available in McLennan County.

Thank you to everyone who organized this wonderful event! We enjoyed being part of a day dedicated taking care of ourselves. 💙✨

🌴 Surviving to Thriving! 🌴

Pam and Brooke had the opportunity to attend the Texas Indigent Health Care Association (TIHCA) Conference in Galveston last week! This year’s theme, “Surviving to Thriving”, reflected both the challenges our programs face and the important work we do every day.

County Indigent health care professionals are often asked to do more with limited resources, navigate increasingly complex systems, and find solutions for individuals who may have nowhere else to turn. Yet, across Texas, we continue to find ways to connect people with care, strengthen partnerships, and make a difference in our communities. 💙

We also made time to enjoy Galveston! From relaxing on the beach to visiting the locally famous La Kings Confectionery and enjoying some great food, we were able to take in a little sightseeing while away. 🍫☀️

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect with fellow professionals, and bring new ideas back to McLennan County!
