Dear Berney Families,
We are excited to share that our Halloween Parade will continue this year! We have made a small adjustment to our parade route to allow for a little more space while keeping the event safe, fun, and inclusive for all students. We look forward to celebrating with our Berney Bulldogs!
The parade will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30th.
Classrooms will also have time for activities and/or parties throughout the afternoon. Families are invited to watch the parade from the front sidewalk along Pleasant Street. This year, we are extending our parade route. Students will continue along the sidewalk, turning down the sidewalk by our Kindergarten playground and the 2nd/3rd grade exterior doors before returning inside the building. For safety reasons, parents will remain outside during the parade.
Classroom parties will be teacher-specific. Please check directly with your child's teacher regarding party plans. If you plan to volunteer, you must be VIP-approved and sign in through the office. Susie can assist with sign-ups if needed at [email protected]. Volunteers will join families outside to view the parade.
An alternative activity will be offered at 1:45 p.m. in the Library for students who do not celebrate Halloween or may prefer a different setting.
Costume Guidelines for Students
To help maintain a safe and inclusive environment, please follow these guidelines:
No Masks: Masks are not allowed, including inflatable costumes that cover the face.
No Face Paint: Please avoid face paint, glitter, or other facial decorations due to allergies and potential classroom disruptions. Save these for Halloween night!
No Fake Blood, Gore, or Scary Costumes: Please choose costumes that are appropriate for an elementary school setting.
No Weapons: Costume accessories resembling weapons, even if fake, are not allowed on school grounds.
Costume Support
If your child needs a costume, no worries! We have a large supply of costumes available for students to choose from.
Guidelines & Support-Staff will circulate in the morning to help address any costume concerns. Staff at our entrances will also assist with ensuring costumes meet school guidelines. Students whose costumes do not meet guidelines will be asked to remove or adjust them, and an alternative will be offered if needed.
We recognize that some families may wish to take their child home immediately following the parade. Please wait until the entire parade has concluded and all students have returned inside the building. Once the parade is over, parents wishing to check out their child may enter the building and walk to their child's classroom to check their student out directly with the classroom teacher. Please do not remove students from the parade route or sidewalk. We strongly encourage families to allow students to return to their classrooms, finish their school day, and participate in our regular dismissal routine. This helps us maintain a smooth and safe end to the school day.
Our goal is to make this a fun, safe, and inclusive experience for all students and families. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in making this a special afternoon for our Berney Bulldogs!
