Yesterday, several high school students from the Northern Neck traveled to the Electric Cooperative Training Center in Palmyra for the 6th Annual Camp. The one-day, hands-on experience allowed students to explore trade careers in the power industry while learning from professionals. The event was hosted by the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives.

NNEC Manager of Operations Blaine Salmans, crew foreman Craig Loving, and journeyman linemen Gena Boarman and Chris Henry led the climbing instruction for the sixth straight year.

Thank you to several industry partners for making this valuable experience possible.

The fall brings fluctuating outdoor temperatures, adjust your thermostat accordingly!

On cooler days, lower the thermostat and raise it during warmer days. A smart thermostat helps to automate temperature adjustments, so you can keep it comfortable inside while the temperature changes outside.

Visit the Electric Cooperatives Marketplace on our website for deals on smart thermostats (and more energy efficient items)!

Even when devices look “off,” they can still consume electricity. Unplug coffee makers, chargers and other small appliances when you’re not using them. You can also use a smart power strip that will automatically stop drawing power when devices are not in use.

Keep phantom energy from haunting your home this season and always. 👻

October is National Co-op Month! 💚

Our story began in 1937 when neighbors came together to bring electricity to rural areas of the Northern Neck when other utilities wouldn't. A lot has changed since then, but our purpose has remained steady. We're still here to provide power and make decisions with our community's best interest in mind.
