Joint Law Enforcement Effort Disrupts Two Multi-State Drug Trafficking Operations; Nineteen Defendants Charged in Homeland Security Task Force Initiative Two multi-state drug trafficking organizations were taken down today with 13 federal arrests made in Maryland and West Virginia, announced U.S. Attorney Matthew L. Another strong month of learning at the MSTC. In May, 284 students sharpened their skills through programs including National Case Management Coordinator, Advanced Treatment Specialist, Managing Employee & Career Development, Special Populations Coordinator, Correctional Food Prep, Case Manager Familiarization, Trust Fund, and Education & Recreation Management.

The momentum continues as we strengthen skills and support a mission ready workforce.

Last week the Bureau recovered 55 weapons, 965.8 grams of Methamphetamines and 225 cell phones. .

This May, staff from joined forces with the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the Department of Veterans Affairs, , , and to honor three Correctional Officers who gave their lives in the line of duty at USP Alcatraz. From graveside ceremonies to National Memorial services nationwide, the BOP paused to pay tribute to Officers Royal Cline, Harold Stites, and William Miller; remembering them where they served and where they now rest.

Strategic Expansion of Minimum-Security Camp Utilization 05/28/2026

The BOP is expanding the use of minimum‑security camps to strengthen reentry, reduce recidivism, and support safer communities. This initiative improves transitions and maximizes existing resources.

Illinois Man Pleads Guilty to Second Degree Murder 05/27/2026

An inmate at FCC Yazoo City has pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder for the fatal assault of another inmate. Sentencing is scheduled for September 2026. The FBI investigated; Federal prosecutors in Southern District of Mississippi are handling the case as BOP continues its commitment to institutional safety.

Secure visits, stronger communities!

Recently, staff at prevented Ma*****na and other drug substances from entering during a routine visit screening. BOP recovers contraband such as drugs, weapons, phones and much more in visitations. Small choices have serious consequences. Understanding prohibited items before you visit helps keep our institutions safe. Great work, !
