Our stream restoration projects often create new wetlands along the stream corridor. These wetlands help filter pollutants from the water, resulting in a healthier Anacostia River, Potomac River, and Chesapeake Bay!

Last week, we had an amazing time connecting with residents at Senior Fest! 💚 Thank you to DC Department of Parks and Recreation for bringing the community together for an epic block party filled with resources, wellness, fun, and connection.

Our team enjoyed sharing information, answering questions, and making sure residents know about the programs and services available to help keep our communities healthy, safe, and sustainable.

In 2025, we completed a wetland restoration project in Ward 7. This wetland was overrun by invasive species and provided little habitat and water quality benefits.

Thanks to tireless community advocacy, the District restored the wetland and planted thousands of native plants. Take a look at the before and after photos!

We're working to restore the Kingman Lake wetlands. The project will restore and enhance over 10 acres of wetlands through a variety of strategies including tidal wetlands, submerged aquatic vegetation and invasive plant management. We're currently at the 60% design phase.
