Thank you to the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals Lake County for inviting me to speak at your Legacy HER event!

My family’s story is one that I know many of you can relate to. As the daughter of small business owners, I understand the sacrifices and hard work that go into building something for your family and the next generation. That is why it is more important that ever that we address the growing housing crisis that is deeply impacting our youth and seniors.

It was an honor to share my story and connect with so many inspiring professionals who are helping families build wealth, achieve homeownership, and create a lasting legacy for generations to come.

The passage of HB 1085 is one of the greatest achievements of my career as a legislator. Taking on the insurance industry is never easy, but it is not impossible. This first-in-the-nation legislation is a testament to the determination State Representative Lindsey LaPointe and I share to deliver meaningful relief for working people across Illinois.

For too long, chronically low reimbursement rates and administrative barriers have made it difficult for mental health professionals to join insurance networks, leaving too many Illinoisans unable to find affordable, in-network care. Starting January 1, 2027, HB 1085 will increase reimbursement rates and cut red tape, helping expand access to behavioral health care for approximately 2.5 million Illinoisans covered by state-regulated private insurance.

This victory is the result of years of advocacy alongside our partners at Thresholds and so many dedicated advocates who refused to give up. While there is still much work to do to reform our health care system, HB 1085 demonstrates what we can accomplish when we hold insurance companies accountable and put working people first.

I am deeply honored to receive Hero Award. I am grateful for their tireless dedication to the people who need support most, and proud to stand alongside them in the continued fight for accessible, affordable mental health care for all.

My Community Service Director, Amelia, had a wonderful time meeting with students at West Aurora High School for their World Language Career Expo!

The event brings together professionals from a variety of fields who speak languages from around the world. Our office is always excited to participate and show students how they can use their skills to serve their community through public service. It’s always inspiring to spend time with young people who are ready to make a difference!

It’s been 40 years since our country created pathways for millions of immigrants to seek citizenship. Since our nation’s inception, immigrants have been an integral part of what makes our country who we are. From building small businesses and enriching our culture to contributing billions in tax revenue, immigrants help sustain our communities and our economy, often without access to the same benefits and opportunities as others.

It’s time for Congress to act, which is why I am proud to stand with my congresista, , as she announces the People’s Vision for Immigration Reform, a resolution to reaffirm the commitment of the House of Representatives to preserve and expand pathways to citizenship.

Thank You, Aurora University Pre Law, Alpha Omega Chapter of Phi lota Alpha Fraternity, Eta Chapter of Gamma Phi Omega International Sorority for hosting the Voto Latino Townhall to talk about the importance of civic engagement and voting. The youth voice is critical in this moment.

Young people today face many challenges that my generation and other have not faced. From the rising cost of living to data centers and AI, there is so much uncertainty in this moment. But our youth have the power to shape decisions and hold elected officials accountable. It was so refreshing to connect with them!

It was wonderful to meet with CEO Sylvia Acosta Chavez and catch up with the Mutual Ground team to hear about the trends they are seeing and the challenges facing survivors in our community.

I remain committed to supporting organizations across our state that work to ensure survivors have access to the resources, safety, and care they deserve. From court support to educational programming and so much more, is doing great work to break down barriers and reduce domestic violence.
