Staying active is one of the simplest ways to support long-term health and well-being. 💪

On National Health and Fitness Day, we’re reminded that movement doesn’t have to be complicated; it just has to be consistent. Whether it’s walking, stretching, training, or playing a sport, physical activity plays an important role in prevention, injury awareness, and overall community wellness.

Being active also means being prepared. Minor injuries can happen anytime, so keeping a compact first aid kit nearby ensures you’re ready to respond quickly and confidently, so nothing slows you down for long.

Are you ready for the CSA transition in Ontario? | St. John Ambulance Canada 06/02/2026

🚨 St. John Ambulance Ontario is ready for the switch to CSA Standards; are you?

Effective June 22, 2026, Ontario will transition to the new CSA (Canadian Standards Association) Standard for First Aid Training. As a result, under this new legislation, the 1-day renewal course for Standard First Aid will no longer be offered. However, participants with a valid Standard First Aid certificate up for renewal will now be able to renew their certification to the Intermediate First Aid course beginning June 22, 2026.

This means:
✔ Updated, standards-aligned course content
✔ Certifications that are recognized across Canada
✔ Continued focus on hands-on, practical skills
✔ Flexible delivery options (including blended learning for Intermediate First Aid)
✔ Experienced, highly qualified instructors

*Note: that this change to CSA standards only impacts first aid training. It does not impact the regulations around first aid products such as first aid kits, AEDs, and supplies. Since 2021, St. John Ambulance Ontario has been selling first aid kits designed to comply with CSA Z1220-17 standard.

🚨Across Ontario, first aid training is entering a new chapter. Beginning June 22, 2026, training providers will transition to programs designed to meet the CSA Z1210-24 Standard, a Canada-wide benchmark developed by the Canadian Standards Association Group.

This shift reflects Ontario’s move toward a unified national approach, ensuring training is consistent, evidence-based, and comparable across jurisdictions. For learners, skills will more easily transfer elsewhere in Canada. For employers, it reduces administrative complexity and ensures a common level of training for staff.

Importantly, oversight remains provincial. The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) will continue to approve training providers in Ontario, ensuring quality and accountability. The CSA standard defines how training is structured nationwide, but does not replace Ontario’s authority.

For St. John Ambulance, this is an opportunity to continue leading in high-quality, compliant training. Since January 2026, we have been proactively delivering training designed to meet the CSA Z1210-24 standard, supporting our customers through this transition while maintaining strict alignment with WSIB regulations.

You can expect the same trusted training experience:
- Updated, standards-aligned course content.
- Continued focus on hands-on, practical skills.
- Flexible delivery options (including blended learning for Intermediate First Aid).
- Experienced, highly qualified instructors.

St. John Ambulance remains a leading provider to rely on during and after this transition.

*Please note: This change only impacts first aid training. It does not impact regulations around first aid products like kits, AEDs, and supplies. Since 2021, St. John Ambulance Ontario has sold first aid kits designed to comply with the CSA Z1220-17 standard.
