🚨 SCAM ALERT – FEDERAL WARRANT SCAM 🚨

The Wheatland Police Department has been made aware of another scam circulating in our community.

In this scam, individuals are contacted and told they have an outstanding federal warrant. The scammers then demand payment, often requesting gift cards or Bitcoin, to resolve the alleged warrant.

Please remember: No legitimate law enforcement agency will demand payment over the phone to resolve a warrant. The Wheatland Police Department and the Platte County Sheriff’s Office will never request payment through gift cards or Bitcoin.

How to protect yourself:

Do not send money or purchase gift cards in response to these calls.

Never share personal or financial information with unknown callers.

Do not send Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency to someone claiming to be law enforcement.

If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, hang up and contact the law enforcement agency directly using its official phone number.

Scammers often use fear and threats of arrest to pressure people into making quick decisions. Do not let them intimidate you into sending money.

UPDATE - Thank you Wheatland! This furboy did not have to go to doggie jail! His owner has already picked him up from the police department.

Good Afternoon Wheatland!
We have a rotund corgi that decided he was going to play at Lewis Park. He spent the last hour with a few people who hoped his person would come looking for him. He is currently at the police department being spoiled with pets and a long drink of water. If you know who this fella belongs to, give a shout out or tag the owner. If his your furboy please give us a call at 307-322-2141. Let's get this boy home before he has to go to doggie jail.
