Today is a proud day for the Williston Police Department! 🚔💙

Please join us in sending a huge congratulations to Sergeant Doreen and Sergeant Owen on their well-deserved promotions to the rank of Lieutenant!
We are especially proud to celebrate Lieutenant Doreen on making history as the first female LT in the history of the Williston Police Department. Both officers have demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication, and service to the Williston community throughout their careers. These promotions are key to maintaining a strong, effective leadership structure within our department.

Congratulations, Lieutenant Doreen and Lieutenant Owen! We look forward to your continued leadership and guidance in these new roles.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has issued a statewide mandate revoking all permits for Automated License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras located on the State Highway System.

Based on this information, as of today, the Williston Police Department has suspended the use of its two LPR cameras, located on N. Main Street and Noble Avenue, in accordance with FDOT's statewide mandate.

I have been aware of the community's concerns regarding the use of LPR cameras. These cameras have served as a valuable law enforcement tool and has assisted the Williston Police Department in multiple fashions.

We would like to thank our community for your concerns, patience, and understanding as this matter has been addressed.

The suspension of these cameras will not hinder the Williston Police Departments ability to provide effective law enforcement services or continue our commitment to keeping our community safe.

Thank you for your continued support of the Williston Police Department and the City of Williston.

📚✏️ School is back in session starting August 10th! 🚓👮‍♂️👮‍♀️

As students, parents, and school staff return to their daily routines, we ask all drivers to use extra caution on the roadways. Please be alert for school buses, crossing guards, and children walking or biking to school. 🚸

Remember, school zone speed limits are 20 MPH when flashing. Slowing down just a few miles per hour can make a big difference in keeping our community safe.

Let’s all do our part to ensure a safe and successful school year for everyone. 💙🚓👮‍♂️👮‍♀️
