Halloween is a time for costumes, candy and lots of fun! As our Fairfield County families head out for trick-or-treating and Halloween festivities, let’s make safety part of the celebration.

A few simple safety tips:
 Be Seen: Carry a flashlight or glow stick and wear reflective clothing or accessories.
 Watch for Traffic: Use sidewalks when available, cross at crosswalks and look both ways before crossing the street.
 Choose Safe Costumes: Make sure costumes fit properly and don’t block vision or create a tripping hazard.
 Check the Treats: Parents should inspect candy and treats before children enjoy them.
 Stay Together: Young children should always be accompanied by a trusted adult. Older children should stick with friends and have a planned route.
 Be Mindful of Pets: Costumes and increased activity can be stressful for pets. Keep them secure and give them a quiet place if needed.
 Slow Down & Stay Alert: Drivers, please watch carefully for children and families crossing roads and walking near neighborhoods.

Most importantly, have fun, look out for one another and make great Halloween memories!

From all of us in Fairfield County — have a happy, healthy and SAFE Halloween!
