Treatment team members from Mahoning County Juvenile Court’s Building Bridges Program attended this year’s Specialty Docket Conference in Columbus, with some team members delivering breakout session content for other professionals. Building Bridges is a specialty docket supporting youth with mental health concerns contributing to delinquent behaviors.

Juvenile Court’s Gina DeGenova (Court Administrator), Linette Stratford (Magistrate), and Karen Guerrieri (Clinical Supervisor) presented Why Trauma Informed Practices Matter and we’re very proud of them for sharing their knowledge and expertise with other speciality docket professionals.

Other team members in attendance include Isabella Caruso (Docket Coordinator), Lisa Carlini (Mahoning County Children Services) and Michelle Werth (Mahoning County Mental Health & Recovery Board).

Thanks for your commitment to youth in Mahoning County!

Our own Gina, Karen, and Alex recently completed train-the-trainer education certifying them as trainers of SAMHSA GAINS Center’s How Being Trauma Informed Improves Criminal Justice Responses. They join Judge Dellick as trainers of this contact.

Mahoning County Juvenile Court staff know that justice includes working to understand what is behind delinquent and criminal behavior and that communities become safer when those issues are identified and treated.

We’re always proud to share Juvenile Court staff’s commitment to our community!!!

Through existing county trauma informed care initiatives, Juvenile Court staff submitted a funding request making this opportunity possible. Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board, Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board, and Trumbull County Mental Health & Recovery Board assisted with letters of support and helped identify professionals interested in attending.

As a result, the Mahoning Valley now has 18 justice system professionals trained to deliver this content to other professionals in our region.

Great work!! Awesome collaboration!!!!
