Use glow sticks or battery-operated candles for jack-o’-lanterns and other Halloween decorations.

When choosing costumes, stay away from long trailing fabric.

Provide children with flashlights to carry for lighting or glow sticks as part of their costume.

Teach children to stay away from open flames, including jack-o’-lanterns with candles in them.

Keep Halloween decorations away from open flames and other heat sources, such as light bulbs and heaters.

Remember to keep exits clear of decorations so nothing blocks escape routes.

Make sure all smoke alarms are working.

October is recognized as National Bullying Prevention Month, a dedicated campaign to raise awareness about the prevalence and impact of bullying and to foster safe, inclusive environments for children. Addressing religious-based bullying and discrimination targeting Muslim youth is a critical component of these efforts. Key Data & InsightsPrevalence: Studies from organizations like the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU) show that nearly 48% of Muslim families with school-age children reported experiencing religious-based bullying in school settings. Forms of Bullying: Muslim students often face verbal harassment, cyberbullying, microaggressions, or physical threats tied to visible markers of faith—such as wearing a hijab, observing halal dietary practices, or participating in daily prayers.
