🏫 Monitoring Progress at St Ansgar’s Combined School in Randburg

The A-Team conducted an oversight visit at St Ansgar’s Combined School in Randburg to assess construction progress and identify areas requiring urgent attention.

The project is aimed at improving the school's learning environment through the replacement of asbestos classrooms with mobile classrooms, refurbishment of existing buildings, construction of a new ablution block and improvements to electrical, sewer and stormwater infrastructure.

While progress has been made, some construction activities remain behind schedule and require additional attention. The inspection highlighted concerns relating to electrical installations, sewer infrastructure, fire hydrant accessibility, stormwater management and the quality of certain completed works.

The A-Team has called for urgent corrective action, including an updated construction programme with a realistic completion date, improved workmanship and the acceleration of outstanding activities.

Particular attention will also be given to addressing identified safety risks to ensure that learners, educators and school staff are protected throughout the construction process.

The Department will continue monitoring the project to ensure that outstanding issues are addressed and that the school infrastructure meets the required quality and safety standards.

🏫 Bafeti LSEN School in Mabopane is nearing completion!

The transformation of Bafeti LSEN School is making steady progress, bringing the school closer to providing an improved learning environment for learners with special educational needs.

Work currently underway includes paving, landscaping, installation of fire protection equipment and improvements to the school's external facilities. The development also includes recreational spaces such as combi courts, a soccer pitch and a vegetable garden.

While significant progress has been made, some work remains outstanding. These include the testing and commissioning of the LP gas and air-conditioning systems, installation of area lighting, CCTV, fire safety equipment and completion of external works.

The focus remains on completing the remaining work and ensuring that the school is safe, functional and suitable for the learners and educators who will use it.
