MAYOR CLLR WILSON NTSHANGASE TABLES ULUNDI MUNICIPALITY FINAL BUDGET FOR 2026/2027 FINANCIAL YEAR
His Worship the Mayor of Ulundi Local Municipality, Cllr Wilson Ntshangase, today tabled the Final Medium Term Revenue and Expenditure Framework for the 2026/2027 financial year during a Council Sitting held at the Ulundi Council Chamber.
In tabling the Final Budget, Mayor Ntshangase highlighted that the process was undertaken in accordance with Section 24(1) of the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), read together with Sections 34 of the Municipal Systems Act.
The Mayor further stated that the tabling of the Final Budget follows the successful completion of the Municipality’s IDP/LED and Budget Roadshows conducted across all 24 wards of the Municipality. These public participation engagements provided communities with an opportunity to raise their priorities and contribute inputs towards the Municipality’s planning and budgeting processes.
“The Municipality has duly considered and incorporated the inputs received from communities into this Final Budget and the reviewed Integrated Development Plan,” said Mayor Ntshangase.
Despite the financial challenges facing local government institutions nationally, the Mayor emphasised that Ulundi Municipality continues to make significant progress in delivering services and implementing infrastructure development projects across various wards.
Among the key achievements and projects highlighted in the Final Budget are:
• The continuation of road regravelling projects aimed at improving accessibility in rural communities;
• The utilisation of Disaster Grant funding for the rehabilitation of infrastructure damaged by natural disasters;
• The construction and refurbishment of community halls;
• The development and upgrading of indoor sports centres to promote youth development and recreation; and
• Ongoing interventions to strengthen service delivery and improve the quality of life for residents.
