President Barry arranged an interesting visit to Kieser in Norwood to learn about a different approach to strength and conditioning. The facility has multiple machines and believes in short but high intensity exercises. After Barry had done a bit of showing off with his back strengthening exercises we all got to do a strength test. Impressive results by Paul and Chris.
A very informative intro by Stephan the resident exercise scientist.

Friday night was the grand opening of the 2026 Walkerville Art show. Dignitaries present included mayor Melissa Jones, local member and minister for Education, Training and Skills Lucy Hood, several councillors and of course Peter Goers. The gathered throng numbering well in excess of 150 thoroughly enjoyed Peter’s entertaining address.
Some took the time to survey the art on display with several purchases recorded. Another successful Art Show is assured.

Walkerville Rotarians and friends, well two of us, joined the new seasons galahs and supporters of ACF and Vale Park Bushcare for a WILLOW BEND river clean up on WORLD CLEANUP DAY.
We then joined other members of Walkerville RC to run our quarterly PSA concert, featuring SAYGE or SA YOUTH GUITAR ENSEMBLE. A reasonable sized audience attended.
We promise we washed up between river clean and sandwich serving.

Walkerville Rotarians present and past along with friends turned out to support the council backed Willow Bend tree planting today. The ground had been prepared with w**d spraying and holes dug making the task of putting some 3,000 seedlings in the ground manageable for the 30 yo or 40 hardy souls who turned out. Despite a couple of heavy showers the weather was kind and the task was done by midday.
This was not Walkerville Rotary Clubs busiest BBQ but good to support a worthy activity. We were not the only galahs present.

Walkerville RC held there annual Charge-Up dinner a fortnight ago. We are hanging onto our president for at least another year making a record fourth for Barry Blakebrough. Little other has changed although we have inducted new member Corey Trezise and have more scheduled in coming weeks.
With several guests including Mayor Melissa Jones, councillors, our 2025 sailor Alice and her mother, PDG and Prospect President Marie Dorrington and last but not least special guest Jason van Weenan an enjoyable evening was assured. And a couple of special guests from Walkerville Probus Club including D’Arcy Walsh.
Marie toasted RI and I responded with a brief coverage of how our activities including birthing kits, aid to Ethiopia, environmental activities and youth support exemplify the objectives of Rotary. While this apparently was not strictly following Rotary protocols no one complained.
Alice provided an excellent report on her 4 day One and All sailing adventure giving us confidence to maintain our support for the Sailing Challenge activity.
Finally Jason provided an update on the planned return of the platypus to the Torrens. Still at least a year away though the thoroughness of Green Adelaide in managing the project should ensure success.
I think I can report an enjoyable and successful evening for the club.

Luckily for Walkerville there will be some recorded sessions.
