Traineeships are a great way to start your career journey by combining study with on-the-job training. Our Traineeship Mentor Layeka began her journey this way and now supports the next generation of future leaders as they pave their own career paths. Check out Layeka's story and see what our traineeships are all about 📚🌱

Our new Traineeship Mentor Layeka has a strong motivation to support trainees that partly stems from having walked the path herself.

Today is Torres Strait Islander Flag Day.
Designed by the late Bernard Namok Senior of Thursday Island, the flag represents the unity, identity and connection of Torres Strait Islander peoples to land, sea and sky.
Each part of the flag carries meaning:
💚Green represents the Australian and Papua New Guinean mainlands.
💙Blue represents the waters of the Torres Strait.
🖤Black represents Torres Strait Islander people.
🤍The Dhari (headdress) represents Torres Strait Islander culture.
🤍The five-pointed star represents the five island groups. Western, Eastern, Central, Port Kennedy and the Northern Peninsula Area and is a symbol of navigation.
🤍White represents peace
Happy Torres Strait Islander Flag Day!

Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week!
This year’s theme, All In, reminds us that reconciliation isn’t just one week, it’s something we all commit to every day. It’s a shared responsibility, not something First Nations people should carry alone.
Today also marks the anniversary of the 1967 Referendum, when Australians voted to recognise our people in the Constitution, a significant step forward in the ongoing journey towards recognition, rights and equality.
Reconciliation is ongoing and it lives in the way we care for, respect and stand with each other every day.
Real change happens when we’re All In together.

Today is National Sorry Day, a time to pause, reflect, and remember the impact of the Stolen Generations on our mob.
We acknowledge the pain and injustice caused by the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, Country and culture.
We honour the strength and resilience of Stolen Generations survivors, their families and communities.
For anyone who might be finding today difficult, stay close to your mob and reach out if you’re not okay 💛

We were honoured to host Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia and His Excellency Mr Simeon Beckett AC at ATSICHS Brisbane last week.
During the visit, the Governor-General and Mr Beckett toured our Gabba medical clinic, Support Services and Staying Deadly Hub, met with our staff and practitioners, and yarned with Elders and community leaders. We also spoke about our pod model at Gabba, which supports team-based care and helps create a space where our clients feel heard, respected and supported.
It was a great opportunity to share more about the work we do and the impact of community-controlled, culturally safe care.

Our Community Connections team and groups have been busy! 💛
From competing in the Senior Games, to keeping strong with our walking groups, and spending time together getting creative, with our Logan women’s group making some beautiful floral pieces.
Aunty Lynne and Aunty Robyn, alongside Community Connector Latia, also attended the Link-Up Qld Sorry Day Breakfast today at Orleigh Park.
Deadly to see so what’s been happening across our groups.
Happy Friday you mob!
