Read Council and community highlights in our 2025-26 Annual Report 📄

In the past 12 months we:

• supported bushfire relief and recovery
• appointed a Trustee to establish the Mount Alexander Affordable Housing Trust
• achieved net-zero emissions across all our operations
• started major works on Frederick Street and Mechanics Lane
• established the Mount Alexander Food Relief Network
• launched the successful soft plastics and textile recycling trial that diverted 30 tonnes of material from landfill.

And that's just to name a few!

Road closure and fireworks at the Castlemaine Show – Friday 30 October ✨

🚗 Gingell Street, between Walker Street and Forest Street, will be closed for the parade from 5.00pm to 7.30pm on Friday 30 October.

🎇 Fireworks will take place from 10.00pm.

It will be a little noisy, so keep an eye on pets and little ones.

🍻 The Railway Hotel is open as usual this Friday. A Castlemaine institution dating back to the mid-1800s, the Rails is one of the town’s great historic pubs and the perfect spot to enjoy a meal, a cold drink and some good old-fashioned country hospitality before or after the parade. Be sure to drop in and support this local favourite.

🚶 Heading to the Rails or the parade? Park on the other side of the railway line and take the pedestrian underpass for easy access to all the action.
