TOY SPOTLIGHT :: ICE CREAM PARLOUR

We love this toy for its creative play. It has magnets so the icecreams don't fall off. My kids play with it independently meaning I get a break and the option of icy pole or ice creameams that they have their "own stations".

Toy library is open again the 26th of September at 10am.

Thank you to ABC Western Queensland for featuring the opening of our fabulous new Toy Library. We're incredibly grateful for the huge support from all parts of our community as we finally make this dream a reality!

🪁 CHARLEVILLE TOY LIBRARY 🧸

Charleville has officially opened south-west Queensland’s first Toy Library, following a weeklong trip around the region by the Kath Dickson Toy Bus.

The mobile service, operated by the Toowoomba-based childcare centre, stopped in Roma last week before heading to Mitchell, Cunnamulla, Eulo, Thargomindah, Quilpie, Cooladdi and Charleville.

Toy Library coordinator Trish Mullins said the new centre in Charleville is part of a growing network and is one of 15 toy libraries now operating across Queensland.

“There were two very enthusiastic [Charleville] mothers who had been dreaming and scheming about having a toy library long before the Toy Bus and I appeared over the horizon,” she said.

“Having lived in isolated parts of Australia myself, I think more than anything, it [a toy library] brings a service that those in metropolitan and larger towns have.

“I feel that every young family should have the opportunity to join a toy library.”

The Charleville Men’s Shed is supporting the project by repairing broken toys to give them an extra life.

The Toy Bus will be back on the road from August 24, visiting Inglewood, Goondiwindi, Mungindi, Dirranbandi, Glenmorgan, Teelba, Hebel, Surat, and St George.

Over the coming week, the Kath Dickson Toy Bus will be visiting families in Roma, Mitchell, Cunnamulla, Eulo, Thargomindah, Quilpie and Cooladdi, bringing the joy of toys and play to communities across South West Queensland.

This time the journey will finish with something very special...the opening of the NEW Charleville Toy Library on Saturday 25 July!

We can't wait to open the doors to a permanent toy library that families can enjoy all year round. We hope to see you there!
