Dear Parents & Carers,

Please reinforce with your children the importance of road safety.

We received a call this morning regarding another near miss involving a child on Franciscan Avenue. In this instance, the child ran between parked cars and across the road. Not only is this incredibly dangerous, but particularly concerning given that the designated crossing was only a few metres away and was not used.

Children need regular reminders that crossings are there to keep them safe and must always be used when crossing the road.

This morning’s incident could have had a very different outcome had the driver not been travelling at the school speed limit and remaining alert to the surrounding area.

Taking an extra minute to walk to and use a crossing is always the safest choice. We ask all families to discuss road safety with their children and reinforce the importance of stopping, looking, listening and using designated crossings at all times.

Thank you for your support in helping keep all of our students safe.
