A great example of a ResourceSmart School in action saving precious water supplies and money πŸ’™

A hidden leak can waste thousands of litres of water and cost schools hundreds of dollars every week!

That's why we're inviting schools to join the Schools Water Efficiency Program (SWEP).

It’s free for schools to join, and participants save an average of $1,500 on water bills a year.

Earlier this year, Lowanna College detected a major leak through the program. If it had gone unnoticed, it could have wasted more than 21,600 litres of water every day and cost the school up to $611 a week.

Fabulous art and science project Taradale Primary School

❄️ Ice sculptures at the school gate! Parent David and students from Taradale Primary School took advantage of a literally freezing morning to create these ephemeral frozen works of art. Flowers and leaves were laid in bin lids and pans. Wet string was laid through the centre of each dish before slowly filling them with water. They were left overnight, then hung near the gate the next morning – causing a LOT of excitement for students and parents as they arrived at school!

🧊 Happy first day of Winter, kitchen gardeners! Here’s to crisp air, muddy boots and hearty soups.

🌿 What an inspiring morning in Gippsland!

Teachers from across the region came together at the beautiful Narracan Primary School for our latest ResourceSmart Schools Teachers' Network Meeting β€” and what a morning it was!
Educators heard from passionate speakers representing Latrobe Catchment Landcare Network, Latrobe City Council, and Parks Victoria, learning about the incredible sustainability opportunities and support available to schools right on their doorstep. πŸ’š
Teachers connected, collaborated, and left buzzing with ideas about how they can harness these local partnerships to help their school communities make a real positive difference in the world. 🌱

A huge thank you to our wonderful speakers, everyone who attended and brought their passion for sustainability education, and to Narracan Primary School for the warm welcome and gorgeous surrounds.
Together, ResourceSmart Schools are building a greener, more sustainable future β€” one classroom at a time. 🌿

Caring for the environment can start in the classroom and grow from there! πŸ“šπŸŒΏ

It’s Education Week – a great time to check out free resources helping Victorian students learn how to protect nature and wildlife.

Our school lesson plans are aligned with the Victorian curriculum, and support learning across primary and secondary levels.

They include engaging videos, printable resources, outdoor activities, and play-based learning, to support a range of teaching methods.
