We know many of you were eagerly anticipating securing tickets for this much-loved winter experience, and while we understand there may be a few disappointed faces, we hope you'll join us in 2027! Join us for an enchanting journey through the picturesque Dandenong Ranges, as our historic train twinkles and shines with thousands of lights. This event will run every night between June 26th - July 19th

Did you know on a return trip from Belgrave to Lakeside, each NA locomotive will use approximately 230L of water? 💧🫗 It's thirsty work weaving around corners and puffing up hills!

Happy Birthday 7A! 🚂🎂

Built in 1905 and issued for the Wangaratta to Whitfield line, it saw service on all four lines until 1958 when it was withdrawn from service.

Coming back to work in 1962 with the reopening of the Belgrave line, it has been working ever since! 121 years old and still puffing along!

An organisation we hold dear to our hearts, is the Good Friday Appeal 💜

This year, Puffing Billy Railway is donating 50% of the purchased tickets from two of the Belgrave to Lakeside services on the day to the Good Friday Appeal. Donations can help kids like Ollie who are seen and treated by the incredible teams at The Royal Children's Hospital 💜

We had the pleasure of hosting Ollie and his family and what a magical day it was ✨

Meeting our train crew and station master, getting to sit on the sills for the very first time and a close up look of our loco! An experience like no other with memories to last a life time!

Did you know it's been 99 years since the Nobelius station was opened? 🌳

It's about 1 mile down the track from Nobelius Siding and was opened in 1927 to serve the growing population in the area!

Come and pop down to the Lakeside Visitor Centre this school holidays (April 3rd to April 16th) to view the Photography Exhibition by the Hills Photographic Society! Many local photographers are putting their beautiful images on display for you to enjoy and see.

From fern gullies to towering Mountain Ash trees, our railway winds through the heart of the Dandenong Ranges. Home to native wildlife, these forests aren’t just the backdrop to our railway, they’re part of the Railway’s story.

That’s why we’re committed to protecting and restoring the landscape we call home, with ongoing revegetation and habitat projects along the line. Through partnerships with volunteers and environmental organisations, Puffing Billy Railway is restoring native species, improving the habitat along the Railway corridor and waterways!

This International Day of Forests, we’re celebrating the temperate rainforests that surround us — and the work being done to ensure they continue to thrive for generations to come.
