St John Ambulance Victoria is a charity in the Australian community working for the Service of Humanity. A trusted and reassuring presence in the Victorian community for more than 136 years, St John Ambulance Victoria is a work of the Order of St John in Australia. We look to the future as a vibrant and strong organisation which exists to help those in our community who are in sickness, distress, suffering or danger. Our desire is to serve the community further, deliver the best care possible and be a place where people are inspired to volunteer and work. We support our charitable work through a strong and diversified commercial operation, operating as a certified Social Enterprise. All our earnings from our paid programs – including First Aid training and the presence of our ‘vollies in green’ at public events – goes towards life-saving community programs. Our activities and programs build resilience in and give confidence to the communities which we serve.

🏅 The results only tell part of the story.

This week, our people in green had the privilege of supporting the Special Olympics Australia as athletes from across Australia came together in Melbourne to compete, connect, and celebrate the true spirit of sport.

From pools and courts to tracks and fields, we were there every step of the way, providing event health services and helping athletes compete with confidence.

We're incredibly proud to support an event that showcases the very best of people, and grateful to our volunteers who helped make it all possible.

Behind every compression was a person willing to step forward.

From volunteers and staff to members of the public, Restart A Heart Day brought together people from all walks of life with one shared goal: learning a skill that could help save a life.

Every person in these photos (and so many more!) made the decision to stop, learn, and have a go. That's how stronger, safer communities are built.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ 60,000 runners. 250+ volunteers. One incredible weekend.

A huge thank you to our volunteers who dedicated their time across the two-day Melbourne Marathon Festival.

With record participation numbers and more runners taking on the half and full marathon distances than ever before, this year's event presented one of the largest operational challenges on our calendar.

Our teams responded to a record workload, helping ensure tens of thousands of participants could take on their race with confidence.

From first aid posts, response vehicles, HERT, BERT, Medical Assistance Teams, logistics, communications, command, clinical, and technical services, it was inspiring to see so many teams come together with a shared purpose.

Events of this scale don't happen without the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork of our volunteers.

To everyone who gave up their weekend, thank you. To everyone who laced up and hit the streets of Melbourne, congratulations.

Whether you crossed the finish line with a personal best, achieved a lifelong goal, or simply gave it your all, you should be incredibly proud of your effort. Thank you for trusting us to help keep you safe along the way.

We are going the extra mile this weekend for the Melbourne Marathon! 🏃‍♀️‍➡️

Good luck to everyone putting on their running shoes and taking part. With tens of thousands of runners set to hit the streets, it's one of our largest operational deployments of the year.

Among the 250 St John volunteers, there will be Medical Assistance Teams (MATs), Bicycle Emergency Response Teams (BERTs), and a range of dedicated event health personnel stationed across the course from start to finish.

Remember to stay hydrated, listen to your body, and seek assistance from our people in green early.

We'll be there every step of the way!
