🎅🚒 CHRISTMAS EVE SANTA LOLLY RUN! 🍬🎄

Despite the rain, our crew is out and about today getting ready for our annual Christmas Eve Lolly Santa Run! ❤️

We’re all set up at the New Norfolk Market and accepting lolly donations to help fill Santa’s fire truck and spread some Christmas cheer throughout our community.

Every donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated and helps make Christmas a little more special for the kids! 🎁

So if you’re heading past, come and say hello, have a chat and drop off some lollies!

Rain, hail or shine, Santa is coming! 🎅🚒

Thanks so much for supporting your local fire brigade! ❤️

A statewide Fire Permit Period will start at 2am tomorrow, Thursday, 29 October, 2026.

This means fire permits will be required across the state from this time.

If you have a property and you wish to conduct a burn (larger than 1 cubic metre in size) on your property, you will need to apply for a free fire permit, by submitting an application online at https://www.fire.tas.gov.au/total-fire-bans-fire-permits-burn-registrations/ or free-call 1800 000 699.

During a Fire Permit Period, a permit is required by individuals intending to light a fire for burning vegetation or for a similar purpose. Permits are also required for fires at a sawmill or factory for burning wood waste or other flammable material.

Fires for cooking, warmth or disposal of garden waste do not require a permit provided that:
• It is one cubic metre or less in size.
• The fire is not lit in peat, humus or marram grass.
• The fire is attended by a responsible adult at all times until it is extinguished.
• All flammable material is removed for at least three metres radius from the fire.

Reminder: All fires lit in the open at any time of the year should be registered with the Tasmania Fire Service online via https://www.fire.tas.gov.au/total-fire-bans-fire-permits-burn-registrations/ or free-call 1800 000 699.

Remember:
• Some local government authorities prohibit backyard burning in residential areas.
• Fire may only be lit with the authority of the landowner.
• Fires must not be allowed to spread to neighbouring property.
• Neighbours should be informed of an intention to light a fire.

Well… what an absolutely incredible day today at the Paul Horne Memorial Competition Day! 🚒🏆

A huge congratulations to all of today’s competitors and, of course, to all the winning teams. It was fantastic to see so much skill, teamwork and friendly competition on display.

A massive congratulations to our Jack and Tyler, who finished the day on an incredible 271 points, taking out 2nd place. just ONE point shy of first! 🥈🔥

An absolutely brilliant effort from the boys and something to be very proud of.

Thank you to everyone involved in organising and running such a fantastic day, and congratulations again to everyone who competed!

While much of the state was kept busy with fire calls yesterday, our crews were no exception.

🚒 In the space of just 12 hours, we responded to 9 different incidents.

With wild winds sweeping across the state, many of these calls were related to downed power lines and the fire risks that came with them. 🌬️🔥

It was an incredibly busy day for emergency services across Tasmania, and we’d like to thank our crews for their efforts, as well as the community for taking care and staying alert during the damaging conditions.

9 calls. 12 hours. One very busy day. 🚒🔥

🔥ℹ️ Tasmania Fire Service is asking all Tasmanians to be extra cautious over the coming days, with High Fire Danger forecast for Sunday (20 September) across much of the state including:
📌 King Island
📌 Furneaux Islands
📌 North East
📌 East Coast
📌 Midlands
📌 Upper Derwent Valley
📌 South East, and
📌 Western districts.

⚠️ Strong winds and dry conditions mean fires can start easily and spread quickly.

While the Fire Permit Period has not yet commenced and there are currently no restrictions in place, we're asking everyone to take a few simple precautions:
✅ Check any campfires, burn-offs or fire pits lit in recent days or weeks and make sure they are fully extinguished. Remember: soak it, stir it, soak it again.
✅ Review your bushfire survival plan and make sure you know what you'll do if a fire starts.
✅ Stay informed through the TasALERT app, TasALERT.com, or ABC Local Radio.
✅ If you see smoke, flames, or a fire that appears to have reignited, don't assume someone else has reported it. Call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

🤝 We're working hard to keep the community safe, but everyone has a role to play in reducing fire risk. Please take extra caution in the use of fire over the coming days.

🚒 A Huge Thank You 🚒

Our brigade would like to sincerely thank the RSL for allowing us to use their building as a structure fire training exercise tonight.

Training opportunities like this are incredibly valuable, giving our members hands on experience in a realistic environment that helps us better prepare to protect our community.

We are grateful for the support shown by the RSL and the community throughout this exercise. Opportunities like these are only possible because of local organisations willing to support their local volunteer emergency services. ❤️🔥

02/06/2026

We are doing a structure fire training at the RSL in New Norfolk. 🔥

There will be multiple fire trucks in the vicinity with multiple fire fighters.

This is just a training and there is no cause for alarm 🚨
