We modestly rejoice at this important achievement.

The Adelaide Aquatic Centre welcomed Ignite Adelaide this past weekend, marking the first event held at the venue in 16 years. It was an exciting milestone in our first year of operation and a significant moment for competitive swimming in South Australia.

Around 200 swimmers from 18 clubs took part across the weekend, including a strong regional contingent from Renmark, Mount Gambier, Crystal Brook, the Barossa and Mount Barker, highlighting the reach and strength of the swimming community across the state.

While $23.5 million of rejuvenation works continue at SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, it was fantastic to see competitive swimming come to life again at Adelaide Aquatic Centre. The event provided valuable learnings and experience, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone whose teamwork, flexibility and support made it possible.

Many more events lie ahead, with several important swimming meets scheduled at Adelaide Aquatic Centre over the coming months. Each event helps us build experience, make improvements and continue building momentum towards the return of swimming events to SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre in December 2026.

We extend our sincere thanks to SwimmingSA, our teams, officials, volunteers, swimmers, families and supporters. Ignite Adelaide was a source of great pride and an encouraging glimpse of what lies ahead.

Here's to a brilliant summer of swimming.
