Council has agreed to set up a new youth engagement model, the Youth Impact Project, to better connect with young people and learn what matters most to them.

Shaped by feedback from almost 200 local teenagers, the Youth Impact Project is designed to provide flexible opportunities for engagement with Council.

This means more young people can a have a genuine say in decisions that affect them and their communities.

📣 Help shape a safer and more inclusive Nowra C*D.

You're invited to register your interest to help shape a safer, more welcoming and inclusive Nowra C*D as part of Council's Safer Cities: Her Way 2 project.

Council recently secured $1 million through the NSW Government's Safer Cities: Her Way 2 program, led by Transport for NSW, to improve how women, girls and gender-diverse people experience the Stewart Place Bus Transit Precinct and surrounding laneways within Nowra

Upcoming engagement activities could include workshops, site walks and co-design sessions. Opportunities to participate may vary throughout the project and will depend on the needs of the project and available places.

October is Motorcycle Awareness Month.

Motorcycle and scooter riders face greater risks on the road because they have less protection than occupants of other vehicles.

Did you know that as of 1 July 2026, NSW learner motorcycle riders must wear an approved high-visibility vest or jacket. Learner, P1 and P2 riders must also wear approved protective motorcycle gloves?

Here's some more valuable info to keep each other safe.

If you are driving:
✅Scan the road and look for motorcycles, particularly at intersections and roundabouts.
✅Check mirrors and blind spots before turning, changing lanes or merging.
✅Look for riders before pulling away from the kerb.
✅Allow riders enough space to avoid road surface hazards and other obstacles.
✅Do not assume that a motorcycle rider has seen you.

If you are riding
✔️Wear appropriate protective gear on every ride, regardless of the distance.
✔️Plan the safest route and check weather, road and traffic conditions.
✔️Allow time for rest breaks and do not ride when tired.
✔️Maintain a safe distance and assume that other road users may not have seen you.

🫶Help create a lasting legacy for Airlie Montgomery by contributing to the design of a new sensory playground at Drexel Park in North Nowra.

The NSW Government has proudly funded $60,000 to Council for the project’s design, that will transform the existing park into a destination for inclusive and sensory play.

The project will create a fitting tribute to Airlie, a local six-year-old girl with autism who died tragically in 2025.

Developed in partnership with the Airlie Fairy Foundation, the new play space will support children of all abilities, with features that encourage sensory exploration, accessibility and shared experiences. Head online now 👉 bit.ly/4yFZPOo
