WE DID IT! BALLOON RELEASES BANNED IN NSW! 🐢♥️🩷

Here’s the truth: balloons kill animals. Turtles mistake them for food. They’ve been found in the stomachs of seabirds. And wildlife become entangled in their strings, or slowly starve after swallowing them.

A few moments of celebration should never cost an animal their life. For too long, helium balloons have been released into the sky, only to come back down as deadly litter.

To every single person who signed our petition, shared our campaign and helped us push for change - THANK YOU ❤️🩷 And a special thank you to - who have been campaigning for this relentlessly- your persistence has paid off.

Another win for animals - this legislation will save lives. 🐢

The Animal Justice Party has been as busy as ever fighting for the rights of animals, and last week was no exception 🐾

On Wednesday, the Ten Years On, Open Letter was launched, calling on Premier Chris Minns and the NSW Parliament to end greyhound racing in NSW. Now you can add your voice.

In 2016, NSW legislated a ban on greyhound racing. Months later, the Government reversed it and gave the industry “one final chance” to reform. Ten years on, that chance has failed. Since July 2017, more than 600 greyhounds have died on NSW tracks and more than 25,000 have been injured.

Our MP Emma Hurst and the Animal Justice Party NSW are proud to stand with more than 30 organisations and elected representatives in supporting the Open Letter, which calls on the NSW Parliament to

Our MP Emma Hurst and the Animal Justice Party NSW are proud to join more than 30 organisations and elected representatives in supporting the Ten Years On: Open Letter to Premier Chris Minns and the NSW Parliament.

In 2016, NSW legislated a ban on greyhound racing. Months later, the Government reversed it and gave the industry “one final chance” to reform.

Ten years on, that chance has failed. Since July 2017, more than 600 greyhounds have died on NSW tracks and more than 25,000 have been injured.

This week, Wentworth Park hosts its final race meeting. The Open Letter makes clear its closure should be the beginning of the end for greyhound racing in NSW, not the start of its next chapter elsewhere. It calls on the NSW Parliament to

This is our MP 🐾

When Emma Hurst gave her inaugural speech, she promised to fight for animals in the NSW Parliament. She has done exactly that.

✅ Puppy farming, banned.
✅ Convenience killing of animals in council pounds, outlawed.
✅ Breeding dolphins for entertainment, outlawed.
✅ Glue traps, banned.
✅ Animal abuse penalties, increased eightfold.
✅ Animals used in experiments, given the right to be released and rehomed.

And SO MUCH MORE.

Five of her own bills have passed into law, and she has secured more than $100 million for animals.

Emma also closes the loopholes that let cruelty slip through, and she stands guard over the hard-won protections animals depend on.

Protecting animals protects people too. Emma changed the law to recognise the link between animal abuse and domestic violence, so animals can now be included on ADVOs.

For every animal, big and small. Farmed, wild, companion and in laboratories.
