Happy World Teachers' Day.

To the people who run the playground duty roster, teach the handball rules and settle the Monday morning swing disputes: thank you.

A playground is an outdoor classroom. At Bakewell Primary School in the Northern Territory, the climbing structures and the Kanopé Multi-Play support fundamental movement skills in PE, using durable, low maintenance materials chosen to handle harsh Australian weather.

We would love to hear from the people who see it every day.

Teachers and educators: what is the one thing your playground helps children learn that the classroom can't?

This year's Children's Week is about every child's right to use their own language and culture. In a playground, communication matters too.

At Port Macquarie Public School in NSW, the playground serves the largest supported learning unit on the mid north coast, with seven classes. It includes a custom communication board for students who are non-speaking, talk tubes, an inclusive roundabout, an inclusive seesaw and a trampoline that wheelchair users can access.

Deputy Principal for Supported Learning Tina Henshaw says: "It just has everyone at the same level of participation."

At AMIGA Montessori in Maddingley, Victoria, the play area sits above ground level in an early learning centre developed by Empire Properties. It is built for children from six months to six years.

The CEO, Max Bergh, put the thinking simply: "Everything we do here has an educational lens to it."

Term 4 is here, and the summer break is closer than it looks.

If your school wants new play equipment ready for the January return, the planning starts now. Installation usually has to happen while students are away, so the real deadline is the weeks of design, quoting and manufacturing before the holidays.

Which playground did you grow up on, and is it still there?

We all seem to have one. The rocket ship. The giant slide. The wobbly bridge everybody remembers and nobody can find anymore.

Tell us yours in the comments. Suburb and what it had is perfect, and we will read every one.

And if you work for a school, council or holiday park and want to see what playgrounds look like now, our catalogues are here:

Remember the rocket ships in the park?

ABC's 7.30 recently looked at what happened to the rocket ships that once stood in playgrounds across Australia. Many were closed or removed as safety standards changed.

At Waverley Park in Bondi Junction, we worked closely with Council and the community to bring the rocket ship back. The original 1960s rocket needed replacing, so we designed a bespoke new one, complete with a Launch Tower, a Mission Control Station with a water-vapour blast-off, two slides and a rope tunnel.

Nostalgia and modern safety do not have to be a trade-off.

Queens Gardens Playground, WA: heritage setting, contemporary play value

Queens Gardens is a heritage-listed public garden in Western Australia, so the playground upgrade had to respect the character of a much-loved public space while still giving local families a genuinely contemporary play experience.

We worked closely with the council to choose equipment and finishes that blend into the garden's existing landscape rather than competing with it.

Introducing Kairn: Proludic's new monumental climbing range, now available in Australia.

Kairn is one of the standout new ranges in Proludic's global 2026 catalogue, a monumental climbing structure built from geometric modules that connect and stack to form dramatic, pyramidal climbing forms, inspired by the stone cairns the range is named for.

Designed for children aged six and up with capacity for up to 50 users, Kairn challenges motor skills, courage and self-control while encouraging social and cooperative play. It is built inclusive from the ground up, with wheelchair-accessible activities at ground level and accessible entry points.

If a striking new climbing centrepiece is on your wishlist for an upcoming project, get in touch and our team will talk you through Kairn.

Tourism operators: your playground is part of the guest experience, not just a compliance requirement.

For caravan parks, holiday parks and resorts, the on-site playground and fitness area often shows up in review comments and repeat-booking decisions as much as the accommodation itself, particularly for family-focused properties. A tired, generic playground reads as underinvestment across the whole property. A well-designed, well-themed play and fitness space, matched to your site's character and guest demographic, becomes a genuine point of difference in a competitive booking market.

Proludic works with tourism operators across Australia to design spaces sized and themed for a holiday context: high turnover of unfamiliar users, variable supervision, and guests expecting a premium first impression from the moment they arrive.

Our team recently came together in South Australia for our SA Conference, a hands-on internal training event focused on construction, internal process and where we're heading next.

Rather than a boardroom, we took the training out on site. We visited several City of Salisbury, South Australia projects, each at a different stage of construction, so the team could see every phase of the build process up close.

We also visited two completed projects:

🟡 Goldenfields Reserve, City of Tea Tree Gully (completed 2023). A reminder of what's possible when design, manufacture and installation come together under one team.

🟢 CC Hood Reserve, City of Mitcham (completed 2025). A detailed look at site challenges, equipment layout and the full construction journey.

Thank you to the City of Salisbury, South Australia, City of Tea Tree Gully and City of Mitcham for letting us learn from your playground spaces. Investing in our people is how we keep delivering commercial playspaces communities are proud of, from first sketch to final handover.
